Newbie from San Antonio

Hi everyone, just posted my first reply in the Defense of Vintage Guns thread, so I thought I’d introduce myself here too. Haven’t been to Africa yet, but it’s the goal. A lot of hunters from South Texas have been to Namibia, so that’s probably where I’d start too.

I’m an adult-onset hunter but I’m severely hooked, and have hunted everything from doves, quail and pheasant up through coyotes, hogs and javelinas to whitetail, axis and black bear. I prefer spot-and-stalk on public land, but there isn’t much of it here in Texas.

Welcome Trail Rated. You're going love it here based on your intro. I am very familiar with San Antonio, been there many times. Gorgeous down town on the river walk. If you follow this forum for very long, you will be in Africa sooner than you may think. Go ahead now and do your research on the Dallas Safari Club and Houston Safari Club. Both of their conventions are in January. I am pretty sure you will be at one if not both of them......Good Luck!

My wife and I visited south Texas, Corpus Christi, San Antonio in January of this year following the Dallas Safari Club Convention and loved it. Beautiful country with lots of history.
We in South Africa can also claim the same - beautiful country with lots of history.
Hope you have fun exploring all the different options there are on this site.
Remember even if you choose the second or third best option you will still have a fantastic experience.
That is how high the quality of outfitters is on this site.
