Underwear for safari?

For wet cold areas, panty hose/tights are good. Help keep your legs warm and do not hang baggy loose like woolen long johns. Hot areas I go with cotton boxers if I can wash them at end of day. Bit more hygienic then a lot of older synthetics. Some of the newer stuff is good. I know a few blokes that wear bike shorts in hot humid areas, I wore them when I did the Kokoda Track in PNG. Rained nearly every day. They were great.

It's UNDERWEAR - no need to get all squishy @ it.... put it on, go hunt, change it & wash it... Remember what your momma told you: make sure you have clean underwer in case you get in an accident...

I have very large legs and always had a problem with chafing.
I have a problem with a couple large things as well but my legs are normal;)

Trying Tommy John underwear, expensive but good for the boys:)

Women have their feminine deodorant. Now there's one out for men with foul balls. Umpire.

Seriously, I wear the Ex Officio lightweights. Easy to wash out and they dry overnight.

I’m heading to Zim in August for a tuskless ele hunt. PH specifically recommended dark color underwear that are easy to clean. Guess I’ll have to let y’all know how that works out ;)

I thought this might be appropriate here....

That would not make it to the dinner party she is getting ready for! Hell, she wouldn’t make it out of that wash basin! Wildebeest loin cloth offers many advantages in this very situation.lol

I’ve heard all the horror stories of hunter ruining their hunt because of chafing, or getting ticks and fever.

I have been given advice of using tight fitting cotton boxers, even tights.

However, hunting in the wetter New Zealand West-Coast I have had good experiences with thin merinowool boxers, as well as ordinary cotton briefs.

I believe the briefs would be heaps better with regards to chafing? Worse when it comes to ticks?

Spray my shorts in Phermetrin to keep the buggers away?

What does the gentlemen use, and what solution/brand would You reccomend?
I think merino briefs are the most comfortable. I wear Icebreaker Merino most of the time. Yes permethrin sprays for clothing are a good idea if insects are a problem.

Permethrin or any other insect replant/insecticide is good on the outer clothing, not on underwear.:)

Yes, will keep it on outerwear only.

@ Philip Glass: Where do you get the merino briefs? I have googled but no luck so far... not modern enough I suppose...
