For Sale 1950 Winchester Model 70 270 Win

And some beautiful Kudu, he was my nemesis in 2016, going to try and resolve that problem in Sept 2018

Beautiful rifle, that stock was really well done. I took my 61' 270 fwt to Africa and Europe as well as home sweet home. A rifle and cartridge that can go anywhere. Somebody needs to buy this beauty and hunt!

That Kudu was my nemesis last year but soon he will ne number one on my list.

My next two trips to Africa are both in DG area's, so I am not going to bring anything smaller than a 375. I am planning on taking my AHR custom 375 H&H to Mozambique next September. I am also booked for the Bubye in July 2018 and thinking of taking a 416 Rem and 338 Win Mag on that one. I am going to do a couple short plains game hunts in South Africa and Namibia before and after the Bubye, thus the 338 for that trip. I also want to shoot a Giraffe with the 416 Rem, and the main hunt is for a non-trophy Buffalo, the big boomer is needed!!

No doubt, my 375 always goes. However I will be taking 300 H&H for Kudu

Still for sale

my .270 win model 70 was a gift from a relative, I have not used it very much. it is in very good used condition as its pretty heavy I don,t think it needed a recoil pad.

Yes, still available

I cannot believe that this rifle has not sold. A pre-64 model 70, in 270 Winchester, with a lovely stock, all for $1500. If I had the cash I'd have been all over this thing on day one.

I am surprised also, had a lot of messages and some phone calls, but no taker's

Nothing wrong with the gun or the quality of the custom stock. It speaks more to the winchester collector market mentality. They want perfect, in a box, unmodified pre-64 model 70s to put in the safe never to be fired. Any alteration of a pre-64 impacts the largest customer for that particular model.

I cannot see why anyone that is contemplating a modern .270 at a similar pricepoint wouldn't jump at this superior gun if they were planning to spend $1500 on something modern from Cabelas.

Lets get this guy's gun sold.

Exactly...at the price it blows the doors off anything you can buy today.

As for collectors, you are right, they want factory original in as good a condition as can be had. For the rest of us, though, who simply want a very good rifle in a very good caliber at a very good price, you couldn't do better. That it also happens to be a 1950's M70? Priceless!

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

A beautiful rifle sir! Can you tell me the length of pull please?

It's in the safe but I am thinking about 13.5 to 13.75

Thanks, a bit short for me, that would be a hard one to let go of ! Good luck with sale, somebody is going to get a beauty!

A qualified stocker could remove the steel butt plate and locate a 1" London Silvers pad (red or orange) with the nib on it. The nib would then be filled with the pad so you wouldn't have to chop any of the stock length away. (or maybe 1/8" just to get a straight edge) The pad would run you a $100 and the install maybe $200. You'd end up with a ~14.5" length of pull and it would be a marvelous setup. I had considered these details myself. Frankly, I also contemplated buying the gun and paying ebay $200 for a correct vintage Winchester stock for the gun. You'd end up with a $1200 "correct" Model 70 and you'd have a custom stock that would fit almost all other Model 70s that would easily be worth $800 by itself used, and would certainly cost you $2000 minimum to have made. Or rebarrel the gun into any caliber you dream of and you're still into the custom gun the way you want it for ~$2000 all-in. Loads of choices.

The financial math works on that fellow's rifle any direction you take it.
