Peregrine 165 gr 30-06 Load Development

Wow, I've read where primers have made a difference, but this may be the first time I've seen it. Good work! If group 4 above will repeat, I'd say you're just about done with this load development.

Those odd low shots really bugged me as I didn't think it was me which drove me down the path of trying different primers. I've done this before with my 6.5 Creed where the CCIBR2's outshot the Fed210M in the same load. First time I've tried 3 different primers as the only variable in a load.

Will try the WLR primers seated to 3.330" and call it good if they shoot another consistent group. Only 106 days until wheels up to Zimbabwe!

Verified the WLR load this morning, I’m calling this load done. Load up 50 and box them up for this summers trip to Zimbabwe. Need to catch a couple across the chronograph for a final velocity with the WLR primers and shoot a few at steel at various ranges.

The below loads were shot quickly as the sun popped up the wind quickly increased in intensity. The WLR loads printed repeatable round groups, unlike the CCI-BR2’s that would shoot vertically. Top group was was the experiment with the WLRs a few weeks ago and the verification load shot this morning directly underneath. One click left on the scope followed by two shots with the VRG-4s to the right.

The looks like it will be MOA on even a tiny Genet! Excellent!
I’ll be very interested to hear how the Peregrines do on game.
Also, please update us on your velocity.
Have a grand hunt!

Ok, found the right thread this time...

Been awhile since I’ve posted any additional info. Work, kids, life etc has been way too busy the past couple of months. I was able to sneak away to the range the other morning to verify actual drops for the 165gr Peregrine load. 1.5” group at 300 yards was a pleasant surprise, using a rest but was in prone position.

1.5 inches high at 100 puts me 9-9.5 inches low at 300, basically dead on at 175 - 200 yards. PH says longest shot will be 200 meters, I’m not touching it after adjusting a bit from the right orange target to the black target. Next post with the peregrines will hopefully be of a fully expanded bullet dug out of an African critter of some type in late July!
