7x57 manufacturers

I haven’t heard anyone mention the current iteration of Mauser. They are making the M98 in 7x57. Is there something wrong with current production Mauser's?
Can't be sure, but at a cost of about $8000 for the 7x57, that could be a problem for many of us!

This is one I've had my eye on. I sent the seller a note asking for clarification on the listing, stating that it is a Super Grade Featherweight. Didn't know there was such a thing. Seller has not replied.

Dave, from what I can find they were a special run made for Cabela's about 5 years ago. There seems some folks call them featherweight while others don't, like in the video

I've been looking into importing from the state's, the ruger 275 Rigby has my attention but it was quoted as being $4000 to get here so it's something I need to think on.
Sorry to hear that young man, but not surprised either. Good luck in your rifle hunt!

Cooper and Dakota both make rifles in 7x57 in or close to your price range and can be had with open sights. I plan on getting a rifle as you describe as well. Mauser and Rigby make some great guns but if you think they’re expensive check out Purdey, WR and Hartmann who will make you one exactas you’d like, the Purdey is functionally the same as the Mauser family offerings.

A Rigby Highland Stalker on GB. Yes, it's pricey ($9k), but no waiting 12 months to get it.

After looking at the photos of this particular rifle for sale, I've got to be honest and say the wood grain doesn't look up to par.

Thanks Cole, good info. I found this gun review that confirms what you posted:

I bought one of these. It was an extremely limited run for a distributor in the NE. It’s sort of a Super Grade, super grade furniture, upgraded wood w ebony tip but no cheek piece, std grade metal finish on the action and barrel. Sweet little gun. This is the 7x57 referenced in my Zim trip report that has been named Bliksem after going 6 for 6 on game. Couldn’t help myself and had a bunch of custom work done on it, including engraving by my buddy’s son who does much of Rigby’s work. It looks awesome!

By the way, didn’t CZ used to make a very nice little 7x57 with sights?

They did one in 550, it's been discontinued as far as I can tell from their website but after checking with gun shops here we can't get it into australia at any rate.

I think ive exhausted all the possibilities to get an off the shelf new gun in Australia. Looking into importing one is getting on the pricey side so really it's down to hoping a second hand one pops up or building one I think.

Guys thought I'd let you all know I just found a mint condition cz 550 which I decided to buy as a donor rifle. Having it built and stamped into a 275 Rigby.

Thanks again for all the help I will post some pics up when it's done

I had no idea new Mausers cost that much.
Yep! If you want one of the heavy hitters with a M98 magnum action, will run you around $12,000 or more.

My favorite rifle is my CZ 550 in 6.5x55. I’m glad you found a solution. Good luck.

Awesome news! Should make a fine .275!

Eurooptic selling Mauser Model 98 Diplomats for under 10k, other 98 models under 8K, and Merkel K3 for half that. All with open sights.....................FWB

I bought this Remington 721(long action) in 3006 with a 2x7 leupold scope from a local paper for sale add last year for 275.00 USD for a rebarrel project in 7x57, before I was going to get it rebarreled I shot it and decided to leave it in 3006. as a matter of fact after shooting it with the issued open sights I,m going to leave the scope off and use it for a heavy cover-bad weather rifle.
