Day one 250km/156 mile

Prequel

It was the first stage of our road trip today but it was different to what all the following days will be in that it was a rouund trip to the southermost city to catch up with a friend and visit the custom gunshop for a conversation on my knives and when I laid them all out for his inspection the owner put a proposition to me to bring a full selection of the hunting knives down when we come home and leave them with him for a couple of weeks. He will do a series of advertisments in the area for a interested hunters and collectors to come in and handle the knives which is far better than any website visit and he expects to generate quite a few orders from that enterprise for me.
This is the 46 knives I have to take on the road.

So todays drive was down to Balclutha to visit with our personal banking advisor who is leaving her position at the bank after being our advisor for the last 20 years. I left her a gift of a little olivewood handled pareing knife magnet mounted on a wallnutbackboard. Then it was on to Invercargil and the gunshop, lunch with a hunting buddy where we organised the deer hunt for when I get home from the road trip then a stop off in Gore to see more friend before getting home after 5 oclock.

Tomorrow will see everything needed being loaded into the truck and th sleeping pod before leaving on the road trip propper on the wed(our wed that is) providing Lynette is able to get all her "needed" things sorted and packed in time.

Safe travels.

Have a great trip.

Sounds like you are off on quite an adventure. Safe travels!

Have a good time!

Enjoy the drive and thanks for bringing us with.

If Lynette is like most other women you are likely to need a "slide out" on your sleeping pod. I've lived out of a suit case in a foreign country for six months that was less than half the size of those my wife takes on a 10 day trip. Be safe, have fun and enjoy marketing your knives.

Road trips are always fun when you're seeing old friends, going to custom gun shops and maybe making a little money too!!! Keep us up to date!

Sounds like a fun trip.

So everything got packed away yesterday and later this morning, (much later as it has just gon 2am here), I will get the frozens in the chiller and the rest of the food in the cooler and we will be ready for the off. First port of call is a couple of hours away where Lynette wants to see a castle and garden so will update this later.

Had a good day with 390km on the clock. Stopped in at the Riverstone Gardens where there is a private home built as a castle and an extensive heritage style gift and antique alley. For some reason I can't upload pics from my ph so will have to either get some instruction on how to or load them all after I get home

Enjoy the journey.

You should be able to upload the same way - it's just a matter of knowing where the gallery is located on the phone. If the signal is weak that could be an issue too. I really hope you can get them posted!

How is the sleeping pod working out? Or does Lynette have you camping out at the local "Holiday Inn?"

The sleeping pod was fantastic and we both thought it was a really comfortable and warm night. Having the heater was a necessity as the temps dropped to frost point over night. Had a great serenade for all evening and into the night then woke to the red stags roaring with it being hard into the rut. We did have a reminder to drive with care just 15 mile from home when we came on a road crash that had just happened. A slide on the frosty road and a head on with 2fatalities. When I go to upload a file it only gives me the option of going to the camera and not the gallery. I get the impression that I would have to be posting and take a pic to upload at the same time but I will try to find a pH tech or a child today and see if there is a way to get it done. I can upload to my FB page though which is strange but that gives me the option of going to my pics.

With those Red Stags roaring are you sure you didn't pack away a little something to stifle the noise after a loud BANG!!

Be careful, it sounds like the roads there can be very dangerous.

I had put the,, 6.5 and the 400 in but decided this trip is about the knives so left the rifles at home.

The driver may have been confused and drove on the right side of the road. Saddened to hear about the crash and resulting sorrow to those involved.

Safe travels @Von Gruff, looking forward to the rest of the trip!
