Hi All,
Was driving from Addis last week, heading south on my way to inspect some projects my company is involved with in the Bale Mountains (Ethiopia) and spotted this male Mountain Nyla by the side of the road just where the road passes through the park, so snapped this photo with my cellphone. :) (y)

What a sight :E Wow:

Really neat. Now if you were hunting for one.......

That is a trophy! Crop it - enlarge it - frame it.

The view out your office window is much better than mine :)
Gorgeous, thanks for sharing.

Wow! Congrats on that find!

Nice photo for your scrapbook for sure.

Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a pretty good bull too, very nice!

Thanks for all the positive comments. It was kind of nice seeing mountain Nyla.

I saw some big mature bulls on the edge of the forest, which were too far to take a cell phone photo and I left my regular camera at home.

This is another photo I took and I can spot two males, one on each side of the female the one on the right is laying down and the left one has his back to me and is feeding, but the horns look like they have a nice double curl. Now thats a trophy.

Looks like I need to make an excuse for another another drive down from Addis in a few weeks...

Very nice. Thanks!

What sort of altitude were these pictures taken at?

Having hunted them, they seem to be pretty high up, but I'm not sure if that's because they want that altitude, or that's the only place they can get away from the 90 or more million people in Ethiopia.

Not many ever get a chance to see them that close . . .

I would have to say the altitude was between 3,300m to 3,600m. But the altitude there can range between 3,000m to over 4,000m

That’s about right then. I was wondering if they were moving down, but anything above 3000 m seems to be normal.

Thanks again.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
