Does anybody have experience with Arizona Cow Elk Unit 7W

Three friends and all drew tags for late season cow elk in AZ 7W. Anybody have experience with this unit?

If you're talking about the hunt that starts Dec 7, I'd be doing what I could to find out where they go when the snow flies. By then in Flagstaff, I'd think it would be cold enough and there'd be snow on the ground to make them move into lower elevations. And that may very well be to the northern part of the unit.

I hunt elk toward Heber so I don't know those northern units very well.

@PHOENIX PHIL - that's what I was thinking. Unit runs 5K to 10K feet, slopes down to the north and northwest. I'm wondering how it looks on the far northwest side away from the main roads. Heber - fantastic area. Some big elk coming off the San Carlos / Fort Apache I would guess!

Yeah find those areas closer to 5K and that may have water too, that would be my thoughts. Especially if there are any alfalfa fields in the area.

Ha! I completely understand. What caliber do you use for elk?

I used to use my 7mm Rem Mag, now I use my Hoyt bow... That is if I ever get drawn again, which I didn't this year. But my son drew a junior cow tag in 4A, so we get to play a little.
