I need help with the price guys .. Heym .460 W Magnum.. unused

If only the gun was a .404 Jeffrey:K Love Eyes:

Absolutely stunning!!

That double is truly a beauty. I'm curious though, what are those white handled tools in the case? That gun reminds me of my Drilling.

Those white handles are ivory :))
I am assuming they use it as a screwdriver to take of the side locks and stuff ???

Nothing wrong with a 460 weatherby if you handload. The big case gives plenty of space for long monometal bullets. Load to sensible velocity and it will be a nice low pressure round. Use the fact that it is in an undesirable chambering to bargain the price down.

On the other hand, a checkered bolt handle is to me a prime example of form over function. I've got nothing against engraving if one so desires, but checkering on a bolt makes no sense to me. A stock should be checkered so it doesn't slip in your hands. A bolt should be smooth so it doesn't abrade your hands.

It sure is a beautiful piece.

Just load it to some sensible velocity and you should have a very nice rifle.

I am thinking 550 gr bullets at about 2300 fps max, should get anythings attention.

Do you have the scope mounts and scope for it?

Beautiful rifle. Congratulations

Scope mounts went for engraving.. I will go with an aimpoint for now . It came with the deal .. as for loads thx for the suggestion. I have some 500 grains I will try .. hopefully during the weekend ..

On a rifle like this, the gold accents- are the gold accents painted on like gold leaf or are they inlaid into the steel?

I love the look of the engraved steel with the gold accents. The artists are true masters!

Great. Please let us know how it goes.

To go from walking away because of the caliber to buying it is a substantial "swing." I hope you got it for a "reasonable" price, all things considered. Are you taking this rifle on your next elephant hunt or are you going to use it on Cape Buffalo?

Congratulations on a beautiful rifle, the inlaid engraving is a work of art. Happy hunting. What's going to be a the menu for test drive?

It was a very reasonable price :) this one is for sure going to Africa on my next safari . As for species to hunt I have not decided yet . My next trip will probably be on December so I have time ..

How about posting some photos of your targets. Weatherby rifles generally come with skinny barrels ostensibly to keep the weight down I guess. As a result they are always the best shooters. I suspect that Heym probably put a heavier than normal Weatherby barrel on your rifle. Just for giggles how about posting a target of three consecutive shots and then one with three cold barrel shots. P.S. I'm glad it is your shoulder and not mine. LOL
