Check out our ranch hunting rig. It's a converted 2001 Ford F-350 by TerraHawk LLC. Rapid Response Mobile Surveillance Vehicle

Link to video of the unit in action:

Our ranch rig version enters from the back of the truck bed, and the lift goes up to 25 feet eye level within 2 minutes. Super easy to use and climate controlled capsule keeps you warm in the winter. Shot a nice 10 point out of it last year from 200 yards off but saw it coming in from 500 yards. Love this truck! Need to export some for African Safaris.

Interesting concept! :wow:

Shooting an animal from a vehicle is not permitted by some African countries, I guess this would qualify! A person actually needs to be sometime 219 yards (200 meters) away from a vehicle to shoot an animal...

I could see it having value, if I had a disability that made me wheelchair bound....other than that, the saying less is more, comes into play.

Well we set up tripod stands and tree stands all the time, I dont see how this would be any less ethical.

A word of caution though, I got an email years ago about a similar rig in texas that some genius decided to drive around with while extended. Seemed like a good idea until he got to the power line! if you catch my drift.

Only in Texas. I'm not a big fan personally but to each his own I suppose.

I've got a brother that is wheelchair bound and this set up would be a god send. I've played around over the years with various aids that allow people with limited mobility to hunt, the market is so specialized that it is next to impossible to find a quality built product unless you build it yourself. Hat's off to you CircleA76, please PM me or post any website of email info. I would love to contact you.

I bet he got a buzz out of that...:kt:

As a able bodied hunter I would certainly not like to see such a rig in a safari camp, however for people that are not able hunt in the traditional sence I can see the application. Would also be interesting what the effect on ones daily rate would be using that sort of vehicle. I would imagine that to manufacture that sort of system would not be cheap.

more info on TerraHawk

The company that makes this custom hunting rig is TerraHawk LLC based in Dallas Texas.

Their webpage for hunting rigs is: Mobile Hunting Platform

They can put this lift and capsule combination on variety of different trucks, new or old.

TerraHawk also makes a law enforcement version that is based within a Ford E-350 4WD cargo van. A number of Texas border sheriffs have bought this unit for wide area surveillance of illegal smuggling/border crossings. That webpage is Rapid Response Mobile Surveillance Vehicle

We have had no complaints with our hunting rig - it works great and its really stable even in high winds. It's common in south Texas brush country to hunt out of high rack trucks or top drive trucks to see above the dense mesquite brush, etc. This unit allows you to set up quickly at a high observation point - you don't drive with the capsule deployed. Our capsule is climate controlled and runs quietly via battery pack so versus freezing or melting in a regular blind, this is a very way to view game from a high vantage point in comfort - I take it out for general game observation when not hunting in the off-season - our deer and turkey seem to not notice it from a distance.

Hope that helps explain the setup and thanks for the positive comments!
