Congrats on your new addition!

I’ve noticed scopes are pricey. Any suggestions!! Make and scope strength.
Thank you

Nice addition to the family, I have a Leupold VX2 6x18 on mine, the price was right and I like the parallax adj, I also used the Leupold quick release mounts. A Nikon Monarch with ED glass is around the same money and may also be worth a look. My pick shows the Nikon ED which wound up on my 35Whelen

I was reading up about the VX6. What would your opinion be if you had to choose between the two. Ie VX 2 or VX 6

I think you should buy as much or as an expensive a scope as you think you need, I had a VX2 on my Interterms 375HH for years with the same Leupold Quick release mounts and never had a failure. I'd say look at as many Scopes as it takes to find the one that suits you. As much as a 1000.00 USD scope may appeal to me I sometimes think it's overkill JMTC

Congrats on the new M70! Nikon scopes at very reasonably priced and good if not great glass. But they're very durable and for me that is worth more than a little more brightness and crystal clarity.

The New Monarchs with ED glass, side focus and updated BDC reticle are certainly worth a strong look

Nice gun addition! Before you shop for a scope, decide the main use of your gun. Example. dangerous game, low light, plains/heavy game, etc. No reason to buy a scope designed for long-range shooting at 400-600 yds if you intend to keep shots at dangerous game to 100 yds or less. Also different if you want to hunt leopard at low light. No one scope is perfect for all scenarios, but a good quality scope can do most of them quite well. Most people don't get a .375 for long range shooting, use a low to mid-range power like 1x to 6x with good eye relief so the recoil doesn't give you a half-moon and if you can afford it, use an illuminated reticle. I have a leupold vx2 2-7x on my .375. works flawlessly. The vx3 are now becoming less expensive since they began making the vx6, shop around. I also like the QD mounts so you can use the open sights if necessary. Let us know what you get!

Congratulations on your new rifle!!!

I have two Leupold scopes for my Mod70 in 375H&H. The rifle is fitted with Talley QD bases and each scope has Talley QD rings, and I interchange between the scopes in order to best suit the hunting conditions and the species of game being hunted. I have also shortened the barrel to 20" and use a Silent Striker silencer from time to time. I enjoy the freedom what the QD mounts provide to change from a scoped rifle to using the open sights.

The first is a 2-6 x 20 VX3, the scope is zeroed at 25m. No silencer on the rifle.
The second scope that I have is a 4-12 x 44 VX2 zeroed at 100m using the silencer. The VX2 and the silencer goes hand in hand. Whenever the VX2 gets put on the rifle, the silencer goes on the business end too.

Using these combinations, the rifle can be used for DG, large PG or smaller PG might it be in thick bush or on open grass lands. The silencer allows for ladies to use the rifle very comfortably without them becoming recoil shy. I have had numerous kids hunt with this rifle and they all seem to do very well with it.

Should you wish to fit a scope and not remove or interchange it, I would strongly look at the VX6 2-12 x 44. That will be plenty of scope for 99% of all our hunting conditions.
Please keep us up to date!

Is your new gun a 375 Winchester or a Winchester 375 H&H? They are two different (much different!) cartridges.

I went a little bit different route than some with my hunting rifles.

The 30-06 and 375 h&h both have two scopes in talley qd rings. Scopes are leupold VX-3.

The 1.75-6x32 scopes were sent to leupold for German 4 reticles. On low power the reticle is perfect for snap shots in dense or darker areas because of the extremely dark and visible posts. The high power is sufficient for that longer shot if needed.

Second scopes are 3.5-10×40 sent in for mil-dot reticle. The mil-dot that leupold offers has a much darker more visible reticle than their duplex, is significantly more fine than the German 4, and there is the added benefit of the mil-dot for windage or hold over if one is competent to use it as such.

Also, there is a back up scope to use if one should go haywire.

I have the Leupold VX-6 in 1-6x with illuminated red dot for my 300gr DG loads. In Sept I used it for both daylight and night hunting. I really liked the red illuminated dot at night on a bushpig. It was much easier to see.

I have also used an illuminated dot scope on black bear. If you’ve ever hunted any black animal in a dark situation, ie buff or bear, you will really appreciate the illuminated dot!

You have a top line rifle now. Don’t put a cheap scope on it. JMO

I've got my .375 topped with a 3x9 zeiss optic right now.. but am going to change that out soon and am trying to decide what route to take. The intent is to take the rifle on a buff hunt in 2019, but I'd also like to potentially use it in NA for bear, nilgai, and possibly bison over the next couple of years.

I've pretty much determined I'm going with talley QD's for rings/bases.. and have whittled the list of potential optics to either the Leupold VX-6 1-6x Illuminated, or the Zeiss Conquest V6 1-6x Illuminated.

Both retail pretty close to one another ($1300-$1500 range).. but I can get a pretty nice discount on the Zeiss if I buy using my veterans account at experticity.com (about $1150).. I havent found anyone selling the Leupold anywhere near that price point yet..

Decisions.. Decisions.....

I do like leupold scopes. The warranty and service is what sells me as well as typical durability. Additionally, the bang for the buck factor is usually one of the best.

However, I have had two different Ziess conquest scopes, 1.25-5×36 DL with a no.6 reticle and 3-9×40 with a no.4 reticle. They were both excellent. Only reason I got rid of them was the eye box diameter was larger than the vx-3 requiring taller rings. The vx-6 is close enough to the European scopes to require higher mounting also.

Both excellent options. Tough call...

Either should work fine IMO. I am just a firm believer in the option of an illuminated reticle.
