Hello

I'm looking to go on another Buffalo Hunting trip in NT Australia soon. I used a 375 h&h with 300gr Barnes TSX on my last trip. This combination proved quite satisfactory , and the bullets penetrated deeply with great terminal effect. That being said, I recently acquired 5 boxes of Federal Premium ammo, loaded with 300gr Swift A Frame bullets. I only paid $23.99 per box, so I grabbed up all they had! Have any of you had experience with these bullets on Cape Buffalo or Asiatic Water Buffalo? Also, if anyone has used both the Barnes and the Swifts on Buffalo, what were the differences in performance? Thanks!

I honestly don't think you will have any problem with either. Both are held in very high regard around the world for their effectiveness on large dangerous game. The ammunition is up to the task, just put the bullet in the right place and your trophy will be recovered quickly.

The Federal topped with Swift A Frame is what i took on m hippo hunt this year. PH / Outfitter was fine with it. Hippo skin s much thicker than a buffalo

Wow - that was a smoking hot deal on that ammo. You basically paid for the bullets and the rest was free!

Both are great bullets - I prefer the TSX, but I would let the rifle tell me which to use. One will be more accurate.

I could not get the TSX to group well out of my CZ and opted for the Swifts. Since then 3 clients has shot buffalo with my rifle and on all of them the penetration was very satisfactory with the bullet holding together very well.
Personally i think it is a very good bullet the swift.

Did you try the TTSX? I had the same issue with the TSX. The TTSX were incredibly accurate. I'm about to work them up in the 416 Rigby.

The TSX shoots great in my rifles. At 50 yards on a buffalo, I think accuracy is a moot point. But it does give you more confidence!

This is the performance I got from my 375 Ruger on my recent Cape buffalo hunt with Swift A Frames. Buff ran 40 yards and collapsed. Damage was extensive double lunged him.

Toby, I think some one ripped you off on those bullets... better send them over to me, I can safely dispose of them for you!!!

Swift A-frame all the way! You will be very satisfied.

The 300gn T.S.X's resulted in the most consistent and reliable kills on big bulls I've ever seen for any bullet loaded in any .375 ever.

I wouldn't worry about which shoots half inch groups or not, for buffalo hunting at least,
but then again I also wouldn't worry about the Swifts performing.
Place them in the right spot and they'll kill your buffalo.

If I had a choice between the two I wouldn't blink an eye, it would be the T.S.X's every time for me but I do acknowledge the Swifts also do work well.

That sounds like something I would say! I'm definitely a Barnes fan. Not just in larger calibers either. They've always done a great job. I just hate to let the Swift ammo go to waste, if I can use it.

Tell you what, since you would rather use the Barnes bullets anyway, why don't you sell me the Swifts for a profit, say $25.00 per box and I'll pay for the shipping.

I do have some 470 Nitro Hornady ammo for sale at a steal though! 44 New rounds, 16 once fired brass and two snap caps for $225.00. That is, if my double rifle sale goes through!
