I finally decided to retire my admittedly old and tired Savage 110 combo which I bought at my local Coast To Coast back in 1991. It has accounted for many deer and associated varmits over the years but I thought it was time to give the old girl a rest and see about upgrading a bit.
So my new darling is a Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in 300 WSM. Toting a Zeiss Conquest 2X9 on Warne rings and bases. Bell & Carlson stock Pachmyer (sic) recoil pad. I picked the WSM because it has decent performance for a "magnum" downrange and is forgiving on the back end. Also, a .30 cal rifle just has so many options for reloading. I'm still breaking in the barrel, but holy hole in a doughnut Batman, it sure is doing well so far! Using 150gr SPBT and minimum powder charge, since I'm also making one fired brass.
Feel free to comment in one way or another, I'm working on getting a glamor pic posted.
