Hunting in the Karpaten again-Red deer Rut 2016
just coming back from the Rut again, where we hunted last year in Romania.
But we had not the success we wished.
The weather was very indifferent and the Stags are very sensible for that.
Warm,than snow,than to warm again and than in some parts wolves .
Hunting in the wilderness can not always be a success story,but we had nevertheless a great time in the woodlands of the Karpaten-Mountains.
A cottage deep in the woods, our hunter drove every day in the valley, to get the meal ,which his wife was cooking for us .
Is there something more beautiful ?
you need the roar of the Stags or a call so you can stalk to them or they are coming to you.
But they was not in the Rutmood.
The best time there are the days around the 27th of September.Always, but this year the Stags roared when we was leaving
I saw only one stag round 7 kg trophy weight,but just in a split of a second,no chance to shoot .
The Karpaten Hirsch--the Stag, there is not easy to hunt.He grew up with a lot of predators and its not to compare like a Rut hunt in Hungary.The chance here is 50%, in Hungary almost 100%
Nevertheless, my hunting buddi has overslept a King of the woods with 9-10 kg
Life is hard in the Karpaten .Hard for everyone in Dracula country.Especially for roes.Wolves,lynx,long,long wintertime with heavy snow and deep cold and in the valleys poaching dogs.
I had not expected a roebuck at a level over sea from 1.500m.They are not many here.
Here we met a stoneold,very good one.
We have roes enough at home and I don't wanted to kill the "Professor of survival"
When I m booking a hunt,I always want that we are the only (human) hunters in a property.
When wolves are also hunting there,for example, you must change in an other part,because the Stags don't want to call their own butcher.And you don't hear a roar for the next time.And also tall propertys beeing able to get narrow.
Wolvetracks
During a morning stalk,we saw a very strong (kapital we say) lynx on 90 m.
He was lying on the ground like a big dog and was looking at us for round two minutes.
The lynxes have huge territories from 10.000 ha and they need 60 roes a year-one.
But here they are protected and I dont want to know, what the local hunters are doing when they are alone and see one...........
I changed the position to make a better picture,he stood up and walked away,not in hurry-with dignity.
A real Lion-King.
Sometimes I thougt,this land is on the backside of the moon.
The 19th and the 21th century are getting often together
For the farmer and rancher are wolves and bears a real and a big problem.
In the neighborproperty (20.000 ha) was much more agriculture than by us.
Per year they are loosing 60-100 sheeps and a few cattle by bear and wolve.
Lot of dogs are protecting the herds.
When they was puppies ,they were placed in the heards,grew up with them and they think they are sheeps.No joke !
Big herds have 20 of them.Its always a struggle between life and dead.Look at the collar-all dogs have that to protect their throats.
Im always fascinated for hunting there.
We heared wolves,saw bear and lynx.
On two days (of six) the Rut was not sooo bad .
Its a privileg to hunt there.And the beauty of this area is endless.
this area is only 1,30 hours by plane from Munic away.
I can do here what my passion is- hunting in one of the last European wilderness'.
