Ive been thinking about building a Mauser as a Stalking or Pursuit (new term) rifle. I want something with a post war feeling and some modern touches. While scheming and designing it in my head, I came up with the idea to use a WW2 scope. Then I found that Meopta Optics makes a repro of the ZF4 scope.

There are also sources for repro K98 mounts as well. The "Swept Back mount was fitted to the left side of K98s.

There are ZF39 reproduction scopes as well.

Some of the reproduction scopes are little more than toys; but Meopta Optic is a good company, no doubt they have high and low end stuff; but Im sorta tempted to try one.

Wow, great idea. Looking forward to reading your report on the quality of the optics.

Interesting project.

Meopta makes good optics, I 3 of their scopes.

Meopta makes good optics.....
I have one too, and I bought it because a smith recommended it, then showed me his guns with his own Meoptas, and just to seal the deal we took them outside so I could see the quality.

I have been "screwed" by China quality repros, that I had intended to use on the M91/30 shown above... In retrospect I probably should have known, if price is any meter of quality.

I think I'm gonna give it a try; but I'll keep pondering till I get to the scope part of the project. The thing is I "know" modern scopes are better than anything from 80 years; the question is are they good enough for say 150-200 yards max on Whitetail size vitals.

I'm wondering if they have modern day glass in them. If they do, and why wouldn't they, they ought be great for your intended use

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
