Hi there,

I want to share these with all you.

A very good friend of mine is about to launch a new brand of fine rifles, both bolt action and doubles. They are making a caliber I always wanted to use, a 470NE.

470 NE (2).jpg 470 NE (1).jpg

Here I attached a picture of the action and the barrels.

They are now working on the stock.
I will share with you some other pictures by the time I got them.

By the way, what do you think in general about Spanish rifles and doubles?

I am planning to hunt a elephant bull with it next season 2012.
I am start working on this plan... any recommendations are welcome.

Keep in touch.

Make sure that the balance is there...weight (11 to 13 lbs) of the double rifle to tame the recoil...

however i do not feel that this load is excessive in the rifles i have shot...

You want point-ability like a nice over-under or double shotgun...

If i do not have a scope on my rifles and some that i do, I like to modify the gun to shoot where i am looking with out having to use the sights.

you just mount the gun and shoot and hit your target...gophers running are a great field stalk...walking tree lines for jack rabbits...you get the picture...

Good crisp trigger pull between 3 and 4 lb...no slack.

Currently I have an e mail out to a party that has a 470NE for sale seeking some additional information...this will be a great double rifle for cape buffalo and elephant...

The Spanish make some very nice shotguns and rifles.

Just my 2 cents....

Thank you James for the recommendations.
I will talk to my friend to double check it, however I am 100% sure they are aware of this, the gunsmith who is launching this new brand is one of the best gunsmith in Spain. By the time the launch the brand, if you are interested I will tell you all abut them.

I do not want to mount a scope on it. I love shooting with the open sights. And if I do not use scope I have to get close to the buffalos to shot them... I am going to get lots of fun next year.

I will keep on uploading pictures and news about this double.
It might be finished by sept 2011.

Alcornoque,

Shaun Buffee spoke to me last week about these doubles. I was curious if they have intercepting sears, which action are they based on, the overall weight, (balance is hard to describe), will they be offered with or without ejectors, will the front trigger be articulated, is the safety non-automatic, price range for a basic model, or any other info that is available.

Thanks,

The 470 is a very good caliber for Africa, common if you need ammo.

The questions you have addressed are very good...many that i have in my correspondence for the 470 i am looking at...

Hi Alcornoque, Where are they going to be made? in Eibar, Madrid or Cordoba? Could you tell us who is the gunsmith or not yet?

We have very good guns and very good gunsmiths in Spain

What is intercepting sears? With those technical words I got confuse because of the language.
Of course it will have ejectors, the front trigger will be articulated... you know they are hand made so the rifle will have pretty much what the clients wants and needs.
The action they are using for my rifle is a side-lock, but they also can make rifles with both box-lock and back actions.

They have not launched the brand yet, so I have no idea about the price, but of course the price will depend on the caliber, engravings, stocks, actions...

I do not pretended to make any kind of advertising here, I just wanted to share with all you the new gun they are making for me. But if anyone is interested in those rifles I will be more than happy to send you the contact details of this people.

There are a lot of technical stuff about those rifles that I am not very familiar with them, but as far as I know those rifles are going to be out of this planet... and they are going to be accurate.

Mike I sent you a Private Message.

Are you sure this weight is not excessive for a foot Safari.
Personally I would prefer (and have) the weight for hunting more around the 10 to 10.5lbs in 450 or 470.

marshy

I sent you a PM this morning.

keep in touch!

Lets see now no i do not think that 11 lb is excessive or even 13.

however if you like a gun that weight 8 to 9 pounds or even 10 pounds have at it...
