New rules regarding elephant importation

glad to hear this one small step has moved forward.

Any time government gets involved with something based on emotional feeling, my heart goes cold. They should base things on hard facts and what is best for wildlife conservation.

I would like to know if anyone has got a permit approved yet on the new system. I got a bull elephant in the Caprivi July 1 waiting the 90 day quarantine then shipment to Windhoek so I would like to hear the progress of the new rules on imports to the USA

Exactly!

I'm being told that you have apply for the import permit and that those are sitting for the time being.
I hope there is better news.

We have been working very closely with the governments of RSA, Namibia and Zimbabwe regarding the requirements for obtaining elephant import permits. I am happy to disclose that we have received one of the first (or maybe the first) elephant permit last week. The hunter is currently hunting and doesn't even know the good news yet. Can't wait for him to get back!
Best,
Robert

Sounds like the ban is over @CAustin ? Maybe you should give SSI a call and see if he can't get your stuff imported for you? Robert seems to be ahead of your importer.

That is good news I shot a bull elephant with Karl Stumfe of Ndumo safaris on July 1 2016 so I will be contacting you shortly to get my paperwork started. How long is the permit good for?

In fairness I have no experience with any other organization, but so far so good with SSI for me! They keep me informed, always answer any questions in a prompt and in a very friendly manner and it helps that even in the most screwed up mess (do the "efficiencies" of African government process') they explain it and stay calm and get it done. Really straight up folks.

Thank you for your trust and respect for what we do for our hunters. This is what sets us apart from the others....this is a passion, not a job. When you have 'skin in the game' as a hunter, what we do takes on another meaning.
All my best,
Robert

So basically, I can get my trophy from Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Mozambique just at the cost of a bit more paperwork

Tigris....those country's don't have a management program yet.....
