Texas Food Pyramid

Apparently? I don't eat it....

I would like to try it just once to say I had. I always thought going on vacation with Andrew Zimmerman from Bizarre Foods would be a hoot.

I believe it is Slovack's Sausage

Zimmerman did a Bizarre Foods show in Namibia. He actually hunts and kills an oryx on the show. His PH was Matheus Theophilus who was our PH when we were there. Matheus shows him how his tribe prepares the oryx. That's a good show.

That's right, Slovacek's!!!! Man that stuff is good...

I somehow never saw the episode in Namibia. Will have to see if I can find it.

THIS IS AN INTERVENTION!!!

@Royal27 , whats the best liquid to be consumed with this Texas diet?

Beverages can be a tricky issue. If the preacher is present along with all the blue hairs then you have to serve this

Of course it has to be sweet. Now if its just the preacher and the deacons then you can add a little extra to it. If its just the deacons then Royal's post is appropriate:D Beers:

Oh man.... @Jfet you know that sweet vs. unsweet is more controversial than booze in a Baptist church!!!

Here in Georgia how sweet is how you get your tea for sure, but in Texas I grew up drinking unsweet tea, and folks added sugar if they wanted it.

Growing up in San Antonio TX, you had to ask for sweet tea. At my grandmothers house in Alabama to make a gallon of tea she put a pound of sugar into it. Sometimes I would get her tea and honey jar confused. Her bees always produced dark honey and both the honey and tea poured with the same viscosity and they were both in mason jars

Looking for material to inspire students to write about their outdoor adventures I did some google searches on short story authors that I enjoyed growing up. One of those authors is Gene Hill who produced the monthly segment for Field & Stream called Hill Country. Here is the link to the article. I think it fits here well.

Makes me want to come to Houston just to take @ActionBob to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo BBQ Cook-off! !!

Man, would that ever be fun! :A Skull::A Surrender::A Stars:

@Jfet That has to be the most realistic food article I've ever read.

As I read it I was thinking I should cut and paste pieces of it here to get the main jist for folks who don't want to click on the link... But hell it is all so relevant that there are no little parts to clip.

Everyone needs to realize that Royal is only a transplant Easterner... He is really Texan. Poor guy just lost his hat, buckle, and boots :barefoot: somewhere along the way.

Actually Royal is on a long term foreign mission trip to the state of Georgia trying to spread the good news of Texas. Sometimes when you have to live in a foreign land you just got to think about home.

There is no place like home!
There is no place like home!
