Cool spot for scenic dinner..The huge iselberg in the back ground cools the camp in the evenings.

Hello Bsums,

Regarding Malaria, I would recommend the fallowing :
1. Long trousers and long sleeves during the evenings.
2. Mosquito net over your bed, check so there is not any holes in the net.
3. Spray the room one hour before you go the sleep with RADAR or some other insecticide preparate.
4. Use "djungel oil" or some other anti mosquito preparate for your neck/ears/ankles/hands.
5. Now we come to the most important part : If you feel the slightest headache or freezing take 4 tablets Malarone at ones for 3 days, and you are cured, and the malaria will never brake out.

The other thing I think you have down there also Simon is the Tsetse Flies, the risk to get sleeping sickness is 1 of 5000 so the risk to get it it's very low... anyhow they get sometime nasty when they are hungry special if they get locked inside a bungalow for a day or two... bring a small bottle of surgery spirit, if you got bitten put some spirit on a cotton pad and clean the bite for 30 seconds, after that put on some antibiotic salve to avoid infection.

This is my personal opinion, because I know that some people is very sensitive for this kind of anti malaria medication, some clients get depressed and can not sleep, nightmares, headache, dizzy, no appetite, your skin can be extremely sensitive for sun and you easy more easy bad sunburn and it can destroy a hunting totally.

One other think is that if I client take some kind of blood thinner medication like Warafin most antimalarial preparate will change your INR level.

Best way is to avoid the mosquitoes as I describe above, and if you plan to take anti malaria medication try a month before you travel and see how you reacting on it.

Whats the best month/time of year to go to Moz to avoid the tse flies and mosquitos the most?

Can only speak about borders ares to Zambia, but you should not decided your hunt after the bugs... ;)

You will find less bugs when it's cold nights in May June July but then you also find the vegetation thick and will not be able to see any game...

Gordon had it spot on, we don't like to start hunting until end of July.

I just spent a week with two members of AH, @buffybr and @BRICKBURN , all I can say is what great people, if this is an indication of the members of AH, I am sure proud to be a member of AH. I will let them post their reports. Thank you gentlemen for a brilliant safari. In 6 days we saw 25 different herds of sable and only once the same herd, the biggest was roughly 90.

Congrats to the hunters! And to you Simon.

That is a very cool picture and if he was my leopard I would get a high quality print of that done as well!

What camera did you get that on? Very nice quality.

And wow what a perfect pose for that cat! Just replace the bait with something in a natural way a leopard would put it in the tree.

@ActionBob , it was a cheap samsung camera, my Leica decided not to work, our professional cameraman @BRICKBURN , has plenty with his cameras, looking forward to his pics..

Yes, most leopards do have two dark spots above the eyes.

Just happened to receive this picture from Mozambique....

Simon;
I was talking about the picture Royal posted... Was that a trail cam or your Samsung? If you took that picture with any kind of hand held camera, you have my respect and you need to become a professional photographer! And not get bitten or scratched!

HAHAHA Bob, it is an old trail camera I bought from Mount Gande about 7 years ago. I will check the make when I fly up next week.

Thanks Simon, for making Kurt's dreams of getting a leopard come true, I'm really happy he had a good time.

I happy for Wayne too, I'm sure he got monster sable! I'm sure he'll want to come back for leopard now.

I knew you were a great outfitter and were going to treat these guys right, I'm a little sad I couldn't go too. But that is the way life goes.
