Women as Professional Hunters; What's with that?

Come on.... Can't you see how she holding the rifle and when she jerk off the shots ?? Yes the ph did perhaps not a great work but the "extreme huntress" was the hero with a buffalo cow as extra bonus ??? By the way nice recoil pad...... ;)

I don't know why you guys are all attacking Gordon here. He has said nothing that does not make complete sense if you just think about it. Did any of you actually watch the video that he posted? If you did, it is clear that this woman has no idea on how to shoot properly. Using simple logic, I think that we can all safely assume that NO woman can properly shoot, least of all be an effective ph. What more evidence do you guys want?

In keeping with this, I have noticed a shocking correlation between men with large ears and an inability to shoot well. I'm not being hasty or prejudiced here, I just personally would not feel comfortable hunting with a man who has large ears. Don't even get me started on those queers who wear pink...

Saul, I think your statement is the furthest thing from the truth,

My girlfriend has small ears and shoot well.
What does that mean?

Thanks Saul, it's interesting with the big/small ears, never really thought of that.... I guess a female ph with big ears would be a nightmare for you ?? :)

But I can assure you that there is not too many ph down here dressed in pink ;)

I could always be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Saul was being extremely sarcastic. That's how I took it at least, and found it to be quite amusing.

Although, maybe we should start another thread listing big eared PH's???

Interesting video Gordon. I've never watched it before.
Rough go to have a screw up (the Cow) on video tape to be safely stored for posterity. I feel for the PH.

Just for giggles:

How did the PH get hold of her gun right after the shot?
Anyone ever have their gun taken by a PH before?
(It must have gotten hot enough for him to stop carrying his own rifle at that point.)

How many male PH's does it take to do a follow up on a Buffalo?

Anyone pick up on who pointed a gun at anyone during the video? Anyone note the gender?

At no point do I ever hear this lady being proffered at a PH. Just another hunter chasing a Buffalo.

Brick, this subject was started as you remember from the older post - Extreme Huntress - and she was one of the candidates, with some luck she would probably past a 10 days South African PH course.....

Hope you understand where I like to come, the whole video is a complete joke !

Royal27. Sarcastic.... I do think you misunderstand Saul's post.

Gordon, I think you nearly hit the nail on the head......I think the PH's schools in South Africa are to blame, yes there are some good schools, but then there are some that are only there to make money, they pass the students so that they get more business. If a female has passed from for example Ian Goss Hunting school, I wouldn't have a problem employing her, as she would have earned her license. I think the post should read.....Bimbo as Professional Hunter, whats with that?

Sorry guys but I don't agree, the PH schools do exactly what the SA government prescribes they do. I had a lady with me on the course, she did not make it, neither did a few guys. Like everything else hunting has turned into a glamour job for some, fuelled by competitions like Extreme Huntress and female TV show hosts that should have rather stayed in the kitchen. Would love to see stats an how many female PH's are still PH'ing 5 years after they received their licence.
Since time immemorial men were hunters, woman gatherers. Society itself has shown that when it comes to physicallity and endurance a woman cannot at any level compete with a man, its genetics not discrimination. There is no sport were a woman competes head to head with a man at the very top level, none, not even motorsport. Sure a woman can run a Safaris camp, it takes organisation and skill, but it's not that hard to do, but can the same woman travel hundreds of miles through Bush cutting roads as she goes and setup a flycamp with hot water, kitchen, accommodation and everything else needed, I doubt it. Yes Africa makes it easy, labour is cheap and so are skills. Owning or running a good Safaris Business is very different to being a good PH.

It takes a set of b@lls do be a good PH, PG or DG, some woman have a set others (99%) are unfortunately more ass than class.

Incorrect. Two words. Ronda Rousey.

Never did see her go head to head with a man in the octogan, MMA cage, but sure she would look like she had a encounter with a leopard if she did. If it's the WWE thing then you are comparing hunting DG in real life with hunting DG on a PlayStation game.

No doubt that the percentages would be the same, but if they were so much better would the percentages not favour them? Surprised with the way SA is going that there are not more female PH's being employed for the right reasons.

hunthard safaris , can you name any of these P.H that cut hundreds of miles through the bush single handed , then make a fly camp with hot water and all the mod cons.
or do all the ones that do this have a team of dedicated workers that will go to no ends to get the desired result s
one my boat we have a saying that seems like it would go along with any and most succssessfull business ,including the running of an outfit ( atleast in my way of thinking )
a boat is as good as its skipper, and a skipper is only as good as their crew.
meaning that every facet of a succssessfull , business is a team effort.....
and liken a bussissness to this
there are many women going at it along side men and they are sharing succsess
hunting isn't a sport , its a way of life , chosen by a few ,compared to over all populatation
in the aera l live there are a large percentage of women hunting , every year it seems we have more girls joining us in the bush to hunt .
and they are definitely holding their own ...
they may not be able to drag a 150 kilo gutted samba deer out on their own , but they can and do , bust em up and get them out in pieces .
whether iits a phse or not ,more women are joining our ranks , and in my opinion that's a good thing

and its obvious when a hottie hunter turns up or hunts with the girls that are serious , they usually only go once , while the girl hunters are back out there asap
to compare a real girl hunter to some of these hotties with a firarm , on some reality tv show ,is something that l have no inclination to do
when you meet a real girl hunter you know straight away

@bluey think you may have misread my post or I just expressed it poorly. If I send a female PH that has never setup a fly camp out to a area that she does not know,to work with men she does not know her chances of getting it right is going to be far less than a man's.
As said above running a outfit is one thing, you can employ the right people, being a PH is not being a Outfitter, while diffrent can of worms.

My wife hunts, she shoots pretty bloody good too, she does not mind getting her hands dirty and helping, but she knows her limits. In no country is woman's equality better represented or taught than in Sweden, they started it all if memory serves me right. The bottom line to me is if there is a male and female PH that has just finished their apprenticeship, I am going to choose the male PH to hunt or work with, genetically he is better equipped to handle any situation in the bush.

I think I read it right HHS
if you send a bloke out that hasn't done it before , id rekon the odds are even that he'll stuff it up too
team strength doesn't happen over night , it happen with experience , the more experience the stronger the team
if a girl has the opportunity to do an apprenticeship as a P.H and becomes a part of the team , in time leads the team
same as a bloke
she may not be able to roll them big boulder of the track , as a strong man can once or twice , before he seeks assistance from his team , just as the girl would from the start
all new recruits start at the bottom , leaders are taught not born , that's mentality , not genetics

Huntinghardsafaris, I know for sure that there is a couple of PH schools doing whatever they do to make money, but then it's also some of them that very hard looking at each student and see if they're really suitable to be a ph or not....

One hard and fair one is Jaques Greeff at Eastern Cape Academy of PH, he will never let anyone pass the school if he/she is the slightest unprofessional.

But it's not only up to the school, the general knowledge test and legal test so also the trophy judgement is under checking of a representative from NC.

Bluey, we have a client that arrive the 15 of May for a hunt up in Ouesso, North part of Congo.

Two of our guys will driving with the hunting bakkie from Lusaka to meet him at Brazzaville airport around 2000 km, after that a little trip of 10 hours driving up to Ouesso... There is not a chance in the world a woman can arrive safe, most probably we will have lost contact after the border Zambia/Congo and never know what was happened if it was a female driving this route...

I'm not joking, its not a place for a woman !

I can relate to a woman travelling ALONE, there places in Australia that I wouldn't allow a women to travel alone .
but as part of a team travelling , that's different , gordo.
and no doubt there 100 times more chance that a women alone in these remote places is in deep shit , but as a pert of a team of a professional hunting outfit .these dangers are minimized
I have no doubt this place is dangerous , and are the first to agree that even more so for a female , that isn't fammilar with the area

Bluey, the problem is that a female ph on the roads it's a high risk target for criminals because she is a woman.... if I can't use a ph to do this kind of work, then what is the reason to employ a female ph ??? Should you feel comfortable as a client to do this trip with a female ph.... I certainly do not think so !
