gday fellas , has anyone taken firearms and archery equipement through dubia
im looking at flights to Lusaka from Melbourne . and emirate seems the cheapest and most direct route
looks like l can fly from Melbourne to dubia then straight on to Lusaka.
instead of Melbourne to Sydney . Sydney to j/bourg. then j/bourg to Lusaka , with Qantas
or Melbourne to perth , perth to jbourg, then j/bourg to Lusaka .with south African airways
im waiting on an email from them about there firearms policy , looks like archery is going to be the tricky one .
any help is most appreciated .
I need to know if l have to go through formalities in dubia , and how to do it with out upsetting them .
thanks in advance

bluey Emirates will address the permitting process for you.
Give your local office a call to get it started.

They actually sound like they know what they are doing!
They even suggest you might want to wait an extra day if it is a weekend. What airline you have contacted lately this in terms of immediate replies to queries??

A friend of mine has flown Emirates, Madrid-Dubai-Johannesburg, without a hitch. You have to contact your local office and give them details of your firearms, they do the rest.
No idea about archery !

thanks fellas
when im in port Monday the girl from the booking office should have some info to help the cause

the travel agent just came back and said no firearm through dubia, not the airways the government .....
will be talking to emirate myself on Monday as in the link you you gave me briko , it says they are closed on the weekend .
would of saved 800 bucks and only caught 2 planes instead of 3
Qantas quote is $3006 aussies

bluey, every last thing I can find says Emirates will complete (initiate) the process for you.
I look forward to seeing the answer you receive.

Im hopping that's right , bricko
that will pay for a puku or reed buck :D Beers:
im going to on it first thing Monday morning , once this boats sitting on its pedastals at the slip yard

Spoke to emerites at lunchtime
Definately can take firearms, going to find out about archery, tomorrow
Looks good , so far
Only can take 30 kilo stored luggage ,cant buy extra luggage .
Thats firearm , bow ,ammo(5kilomax.) and luggage
7 kilo, carry on, max
Anything extra is charged ar $94 aussies, per kilogram,( strueth, ruth)
No exceptions
Each way
Takes about the same time as doing melbourne-sydney, sydney -j/bourg, j/bourg to lusaka,
Wirh emerites, its melbourne -dubia , dubia - lusaka,
But firearm is sent straight through to lusaka , and the lay over time will be relax and and chill
The price is $2114 return
Compared to $3006, with qantas,
Emerites is starting to look pretty good
Might not be taking the bow but
And will have to watch the wieght on luggage
Thankyou for the links bricko and nyati

Welcome my friend.
That overage charge is scary.

I had clients fly through Dubai last season Emirates assisted them with their permits as well.

It's an awesome airline and the best I've flown with

My best always

You' re welcome Bluey, be sure to weigh everything and stay within the limit !

That makes me at ease, thanks cob

Hey Bluey...Flew Emirates in 2012, Houston to Dubia, Dubia to Joberg and return when we went to Moz. Had to apply for the UAE gun permit in advance. Emirates had it waiting for me at check-in. The main thing is do not let SA (or any other airlines) check your bags all the way thru back to Melbourne. They might tell you it is possible because they are SkyLink partners. DON'T. You must have Emirates check them in on the return flight. I detail it in my hunt report also; http://www.africahunting.com/threads/mozambique-my-hunt-with-mashambanzou-safaris-in-2012.9092/ One other suggestion: When your bags/gun case is checked, mark your reciept ticket with what it corresponds to.

bluey will be ok as its emirates all the way to and from lusaka , no add on airlines
Sorry...didn't catch that! Then he'll only get in trouble once he gets to Takeri!!!! :A Band:

Bluey fly their first class it's incredible I did it this year!
