It's an awesome hunt. They are hunted by either stalking or high seat in parts of England about three hours from London. Costs for the hunt can be based from castles to great B&B's. They are very cool little critters and make amazing full mounts and will get a lot of attention when seen by your guests. Something about fangs gets people interested. The best part of it is that it is one of the most economical hunts you can come by anywhere.

I was able to see wild Muntjac (barking) deer in southern Nepal (in and around Chitwan NP) when I was there in 2005. I also had the opportunity to see rhino, sloth bear, mugger crocodile, spotted deer, sambar, wild boar, and tiger pug marks. I hope to go back and hunt one day, since it has now been open in at least part of the country for a few years.

I need to do a little research on hunting these interesting little deer in the UK. Thanks for the post.

The 777 ranch here in Texas has Chinese water deer for sure. I think it has muntjac also.

Hi , the muntjac and cwd deer were originally brought to woburn abbey (seat of duke and duchess of befoedshire) in 1894 and over time have escaped from the estate while the cwd has spread to half a dozen counties the muntjac is almost everywhere in england, if you were intrested in hunting these paul childerley sporting holds some of the best hunting around woburn just north of london, hope this helps, kind regards graeme

great pictures Billcollector!

thanks for the info guys, I will be checking out your suggestions.

Matt,
Are you looking at doing a hunt? When you hunt with me this year, I will be more than happy to put you in contact with some great guys in England who offer these hunts. They hunted with me duirng 2014 and I'm planning on supporting them for a hunt during 2016 or so.

Pretty cool! And the wife would enjoy a holiday back to England. Definitely on my long term list.

I think you saw them on Kevin Downers Stand KDSPORTING , he has fantastic access to medal quality bucks and is a good laugh as well!

They are both very cool trophies and a neat old world experience. I work with a couple outfitters over there, one who does a Water deer/ muntjac combo hunt drop me an email and I'll be happy to send you some information about it.

I would be interested in getting more info on that. Not something I can jump up and do right this second but my wife would really like something like this. If you'd pm me with more info I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Definitely high on my list. I have done plenty of research on these guys and England is definitely the right place.

What an awesome full mount!!

I know a couple of guys with very good prices for both CWD and Muntie so give me a shout if you would like recommendations, Chinese are in between Nov-March with no season on Muntjac

you are correct, I spoke with Kevin Downer Sporting Consultants at the SCI show. they told me I could do both animals for around $5000. seems a tad expensive for two small deer but not beyond the realm of possible.

Marius, we will have plenty to discuss about future African and other international hunts when we meet up in September.

777 ranch has muntjac for $3500

Its amazing how many critters you can hunt in their native habitat and countries (doesn't quite apply here... :E Dozing Off:) including flights and all fees for the same or less than Texas game ranch prices.

$3500 for an animal here is very expensive. i can hunt muntjac overseas for less and i get the bonus of visiting a country ive never been to before.
