This is the first time I have ever heard someone fron Texas say their state is second in something!!!!! the Palo canyon is pretty, though.

There is over a million acres of public hunting land plus the walk on program. I also forgot to mention we have the largest free range herd of Auodad sheep in the world, the second largest canyon (Palo Duro Canyon is 2nd only to the grand canyon), and did I mention at least 100 species of exotics from all around the world. Everything from Chinese water deer to Cape Buffalo!

Apparently I was wrong. Is a large portion of that million acres in west Tx by chance? It's almost worth the drive from here if the hunting is good there.

Idaho is great, more public land than private, 10 species of big game, lots of upland bird, water fowl and small game hunting, gun laws as good as any state.

I was tempted for sure!!!!

In this county spikes are legal. It is just against club rules. Bucks are supposed to be eight point or better and at least as wide as the ears.

I'd vote for Florida, specifically the North West Florida since that's what I am the most familiar with. The weather is very hot and humid in the summer but the winters are mild. Cost of living is decent and the gun laws are still somewhat sane.

Pretty much anyplace outside the major extended urban areas will be gun/hunter friendly. That pretty much means most of the Northeast, West coast, and a few pockets of large cities (i.e. Chicago) in between.

I think it would be an absolute blast to bring about a half a dozen of the PHs around here to one of those places for a good late season hunt!

I figure a good five day hunt should help you to appreciate the weather in Zambia.

Of course, if you'd prefer to come in Jan/Feb I'm sure we can find someone up there to take you ice fishing. Which, I've never done, and have always wanted to do!

in june, july and august it can be bloody cold in zambia and in the kafue area with frost occasionally in the morning. on vehicle outside temp gauges you get minus figures sometimes , not sure how accurate they are, but if you are on the back of the vehicle and its the average early morning temp of 6/9c with the wind chill its cold . dont take my coat off till at least 10am and thats when i am in the cab!!!! 18c and its windy will have a coat on starts warming up through august and gets nice in sept and oct low to mid 30`s c with nights still pleasant till later oct, then starts getting hot at night with the rains coming. if you are in the luangwa or zambezi valleys then oct onwards can get a little warm and the temp only drops a few degs c at night , so can be a little bit hot and wet in bed and thats even when you are alone so come and enjoy the fishing when its getting good in oct with high 30c+ on the lower zambezi

I was in the valley the second half of august this year and was surprised at how warm it was, shorts the entire time. I understand it was a little warmer than normal while I was there. Where I'm from it doesn't stay below freezing very often, but in Minnesota it gets COLD and stays COLD!!!

Can you imagine doing this on the Zambezi??? That's a lake those people are parked on!!!!

Still think it would be fun, but no shorts for sure!

Come my way and I'll gladly take anyone out ice fishing. Gives me an excuse to go. I don't usually use an ice house tho... Was out about 9 days ago and caught a meals worth. Only thing is my retail season is just starting to get going. Lets go in Jan or Feb. Of course Feb is steelhead in Idaho at Orofino. Average 30-36 inches and 10-16lbs. Usually don't see it below 30 degrees or so. Bruce
