South African male lion hunt

How about extending this offer to 2017 when I plan to go? haha. Any deals you can get if you combine a hippo with a lion hunt?
I think next year will be the last year for hunting lion in South Africa or exporting them from here but let us see what happen, i am always very pos when it comes to these things.

Yeah its always good to hope for the best. If anything does get changed I'll book a hunt before the legislature comes into action.

I will be watching my schedule closely. I definitely feel the end is near. Not only do you have to hunt one, but you also have to dip and pack it out ASAP.

if the hunt has already been done , wouldn't they , have to allow importation ?
even booked id think , that you had fair grounds to get it home .......

It's a changing world, never say never with the anti-hunters....that is what the USFWS has really become. When they closed polar bear hunting it took years to convince them that animals hunted before the deadline should be allowed to be exported. Common sense does not rule the day.

hmmmmmm. thats not what l want to hear .
theres some serious pressure here in Australia, also .
a fella that hunted a lioness after us , might have the right idea then ,
he is dipp and shipping the skin back by itself asap . and getting the rest at a later date .....

When your talking about USFW, common sense does not factor in the equation. I shot my hippo in Mozambique in Aug 2012. The importation ban began in Jan. 2013. My hippo remains in Mozambique even though I harvested him prior to the ban......go figure. At least I could have a replica made...

I always hear about the US banning x animal for import or cant sell parts from animal y (ie marine mammal act) but I never knew Australia was enacting similar bans or if other western countries are doing the same. I guess we're kinda lucky in Canada because apart from what international treaties allow and don't allow, there aren't, as far as I know, any weird Canada only bans/restrictions. Makes me wonder what the situation in Europe is like...

BTW out of curiosity, apart from the lion skin most people only keep the skull with it, do Australian import regs make it more difficult to get the skull in or? As I would have thought the two or all parts from said lioness would go on the same CITES permit.

I havnt done the cites this end yet as the lioness is being mounted in Africa by karoo taxidermy .
im bringing home the mount of course, the skull , the floating bones , and im getting all the claws taken out for jewellery.
she is being mounted lying down as thou enjoying the morning sun on a cold morning, showing her bueaty , absolutely no aggressive pose . .

I don't think they will take it away. If any legislature does get passed I will book before it goes into action. But they try every year, especially hard this year but hopefully common sense overrides their false thoughts.

If USF&W imposes a ban like they did with some elephant, is there any legislative action or is it just done administratively?

By Executive Order - it is immigration after all.... ;)

Yea so how much warning and time to do a hunt will there be?

On the flip side, what are the guys in RSA going to do with all the lions if hunting is stopped or severely restricted?

I was teasing on the EO, but in all seriousness I do believe it will be adminisrative, just like the elephant, if it happens. I'm still personally betting that it doesn't happen, or at least not in total. That is purely personal opinion and speculation though.

Great question on the RSA lions. Immediately taken out U.S. hunters and I would think that supply would suddenly far outstrip demand. The breeders have to be nervous!

if I had the money and the time id be all over this! sadly between needing to buy a house and wanting to hunt elephant and hippo I just don't see lion in my near future.

who ever takes this deal, make sure you post lots of pictures!

Good point Brickburn.

Does anybody know what percentage of lion hunts in Africa are done by hunters from the USA?
