I disagree with this. I have no credit card debt that I pay interest on. Just last month I paid for two international business class tickets with miles. My partner is flying to DFW to visit her dad today, Ticket was with miles again. My next international trip in business class will be miles as well.

I pay everything I can with a credit card and pay it off in full each month and get the miles. The only things I have paid cash for last year was my Lexus SUV (they wouldn’t let me charge it) and dog trainer who wanted a PayPal transfer.
Requires discipline and a reliable cash flow, but if so, this is the way to go.

Relevant to the discussion of the American dream being "impossible" for younger generations, here are the key findings from the largest study of American Millionaires ever conducted, comprising 10,000 people:

  • According to the survey, 8 out of 10 millionaires invested in their company’s 401(k) plan, and that simple step was a key to their financial success. Not only that, but 3 out of 4 of those surveyed also invested outside of company plans.
  • Three out of four millionaires (75%) said that regular, consistent investing over a long period of time is the reason for their success. So, the story about the young computer genius who developed an app that earned millions overnight is the exception, not the rule.
  • Even when millionaires don’t have to worry about money anymore, they’re still careful about their spending. Ninety-four (94%) percent of the people studied said they live on less than they make, and nearly three-quarters of the millionaires have never carried a credit card balance
  • These millionaires also said they spend $200 or less each month at restaurants. And 93% of millionaires use coupons all or some of the time when shopping.
  • The overwhelming majority (79%) of millionaires in the U.S. did not receive any inheritance at all from their parents or other family members.
  • According to the survey, 8 out of 10 millionaires come from families at or below middle-income level. Only 2% of millionaires surveyed said they came from an upper-income family.
  • In fact, only 15% of millionaires were in senior leadership roles, such as vice president or C-suite roles (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.). Ninety-three percent (93%) of millionaires said they got their wealth because they worked hard, not because they had big salaries.
  • Only 31% averaged $100,000 a year over the course of their career, and one third never made six figures in any single working year of their career.
  • Almost two-thirds of millionaires (62%) graduated from public state schools, while only 8% went to a prestigious private school.
  • The top five careers for millionaires include engineer, accountant, teacher, management and attorney.
People choose to be poor by using credit, feeling entitled to live beyond their means, and they purchase depreciating items rather than appreciating assets.

I’d love to see what the criteria was for this survey? A million plus net worth? Any Boomer or older Gen X with a remotely decent career should be here no problem based on having a paid off house (that has appreciated exponentially in many parts of the country/continent) and 30+ years of retirement savings. Being a millionaire isn’t nearly the flex it once was.

By law when government opens up again, you will get paid for the time off though. Enjoy your vacation.

Indeed. If I am not laid off. Frankly I feel safe, but who really knows with the rhetoric coming out of the White House? And my only complaint/observation in sharing that was that the messaging was the same.

Financial responsibility (or lack thereof) is not specific to any single generation. I know guys in their 60’s who are still working paycheck to paycheck and will only retire with social security. It’s more common than folks might think….
I also know young 20”s people that get it, and are busting their ass to build wealth….

Each generation has their own obstacles and opportunities that were not there during the previous generation. That’s how the world works and things change, but the basics stay the same.

People are people. I don’t believe we can lump any one generation into any single category….

Unfortunately here we go again......

Don't worry, Starmer, a local Imam, Sadiq Kahn and King Charles have all condemned the attack. Laughable at best.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said "additional police assets" would be deployed at synagogues across the country after the attack.

He told reporters: "We will do everything to keep our Jewish community safe."

This I find particularly funny because after an attack by a muslim, we first must worry about "islamaphobia".

British Muslim Trust warns against ‘exploiting this violence’

The British Muslim Trust described the attack as “despicable” and “cowardly”, as it warned of potential retaliatory acts.

The trust, a Government-funded organisation monitoring incidents of anti-Muslim hate, warned no-one should be allowed to “exploit this violence to deepen the division they seek”.

Akeela Ahmed, the trust’s chief executive, said: “The attack in Manchester this morning is shocking and utterly abhorrent, and to commit these acts on Yom Kippur is sickening. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and our thoughts and best wishes go to all those affected.

“There is never, and can never be, any place for this sort of despicable, cowardly violence in our society. The British Muslim Trust stands with all victims of hate, and in particular today with the Jewish community, the people of Manchester and the Community Security Trust.

“We utterly condemn this disgraceful attack and offer our support to those left to pick up the pieces.

“Finally, in worrying times like these we ask Muslims and all communities to look out for each other and remain vigilant. We know there are some who will seek to exploit this violence to deepen the division they seek - we must not let them.”

This so far has been deemed a terrorist attack and two others have been arrested. And yes I'm assuming the identity of this monster.

You guys are talking past each other bit.

He was charged with lying under oath, which likely will not see prison time.

Other actions he did, whether true or not, he hasn't been charged with.

The biggest issue for Comey is no one in DC likes him, not the left and not the right. The best thing he has going for him is that Trump indicted him, not Biden. He is a pretty tough spot.

These charges are likely just to get a stake in the ground before the statute of limitations hits. This opens the door for further investigation and expanded charges.

There are so many solutions to the plight of young people not being able to climb the economic ladder.

Don’t strap on debt for a degree that will never pay you back.

Go to a cheap community college for your degree and work to pay it off as you go. Then if a BA or above will make you more money, pay for that as you go, while you work

Or better yet, Get paid while you go through an apprenticeship or a trade school.

Live in a trailer with holes in the floor till you can afford better. As I have done. Our first house had a hole in the floor, water you could not drink. It was a complete dump in a terrible area. We had a mattress on the floor. And we both worked our ass off to get out of there. Next step; We could afford to rent a nice mobile home. Then we finally bought a brick and mortar. On and on.

And guess what ? each one of those steps upward was a financial stretch. Just as it is now. We wondered if we could afford them. that’s the way it is. and the way it’ll always be.

Don’t believe you have a right to start life at the equivalent level of people who have been grinding for decades.

Out hustle everybody you work with. it’s pretty easy to do that. Many people are drones and lazy. Be the most versatile person where you work. The last person they would think to get rid of.

If it’s too expensive and there’s no opportunity where you are. Move !
Many of us have lived in dozens of locations around the planet. You may have to move often to the next hotspot of opportunity.

And do not fall for the victim mentality that the leftist are planting in your head.
100 percent
As some one in their 20’s it seems objectively harder and socialists think they have the answers.
But it’s no where near impossible just begs the need to be financially literate and less materialistic. IMO

Now illegal to be anti terror

Disliking a political ideology, particularly one of the more extreme fundamentalist groups within that ideology is somehow deemed "racial hatred".

Another despicable quote within that video is, "if I didn't have to be here I wouldn't be". Well then put some action where your mouth is and find a different job or have some balls and refuse to arrest the guy.

Also remember the knife wielding muslim who has escaped jail time and received a lower fine than the quran burner.

There is a huge double standard.
The EU is trying to get us to put in new speech laws thankfully the U.S is backing/warning Ireland against it.

I think these charges got laid to make Trump happy.

The indictment was poorly written, and unlike most similar charges contained no quotes as to what he said that was supposed to be a lie. That is not only unusual but may be legally insufficient to keep the charges alive.

Also the indictment was not signed by any of the career assistant U.S. attorney's who worked on the investigation but rather a new appointee who was an insurance lawyer just a few months ago. One get the impression that he got stuck signing it because they expect the charges not to succeed and no one wants to have that on their resume going forward.

Cerainly the DOJ is not litigating it out of the gate like they think it is a winner.

Hilarious, and the sign of our times unfortunately.

“"Why is he obsessed with fat?" co-host Joy Behar asked as co-host Sunny Hostin added, "And fitness."”

Imagine not simply failing to understand why the military needs fitness, but also saying it on a national tv broadcast. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

It will be interesting how much Vought will or can cut before the cr is confirmed.

Republicans always cave. They seem to have the high ground for once. Democrats may have just overplayed their hand.

Agree. If you’re paying your balance every month there are a lot of benefits available form cards with points or miles.

Agreed. We use cc in business daily and pay the full balance each month. 2% back on millions add up for just paying your bills and we have never had any cc debit.

Some of our suppliers give us a discount for paying in full in 10-30 days as well. We take full advantage of this to.

I use them personally the same way. There can be great advantages to using a cc wisely.

The reason credit cards push the points and miles so hard is the statistics are against you. For every 1 person that "beats" the credit card scam, 99 people eventually carry over a balance. Hence, its why 75% of millionaires have never, ever had credit card debt. (as in not one time in their life)

You and Tanks may be the unicorns that actually get something for nothing, but for the ultra majority of the population, credit cards cause harm rather than deliver good.

If you want to know why younger generations are mad, this is the advice they are given.
