My crates finally made it out of Atlanta and are now in Chicago. They should be in Ohio in a few days. I used Trophy Shippers for the import. I used coppersmith before and Laura was excellent to work with. So when I saw she switched over to Trophy Shippers I went to them. Unfortunately half way thru my shipment something happened and Laura is no longer with Trophy shippers. They did honor the $50 discount for being a member here. I'll post the cost here because I know people like to see recent cost.

Not terribly bad, what was the shipping cost?

How many and in what condition did you ship?
For example 1. Impala skull w/ horns and salted cape

Considering they total over a 1,000 pounds not terrible.
Looking forward to seeing the final product!

What was the deciding factor in having a few of them left as dip and pack?

Thanks for the update on shipping costs. Any idea where Laura went to?

Dip and back was east cape hunt in 2024. Taxidermy was 2023 Limpopo hunt. Just had both crates sent at same time to cut down on all the costs not related to weight.

No clue and it was quick. Talked to her on a Friday and come Monday she wasn't there.

That was a similar thing that happened with me when she went from Coppersmith to Trophy Shippers while helping me import my last shipment.

I think I remember some pics the taxidermist sent, would like to see how they look in the house.

$639 for USDA inspection? I thought the USDA inspection is free up to 5 trophies and then $5 for each additional animal after that.

Not anymore at DFW and coming soon to an airport near you.

"NOTICE: As of the beginning of 2024, the DFW Airport has undergone a new procedure where all direct flights into DFW that contain hunting trophies must go to a Central Exam Station (DNATA) to be inspected by CBP Agriculture. DNATA’s ESTIMATED charges include a charge of $2.50/kg of the CHARGEABLE weight of the shipment for their Examination Fees as well as a minimum of $120 for a Facility Fee and a minimum of $45 for a Documentation Fee. We have to make payment to DNATA in order to pick up the hunting trophy shipments and move them to our warehouse, and so we will include this charge on our final invoice to the client."

Damn, so we pay their salary and their budget so when we need them they charge extra. Government at its finest.
Is this just DFW or all airports?

Currently only DFW. But soon expanding to others.

I’m sure it will be on Atlanta by August when my current batch of trophies are supposed to be ready.

@wesheltonj , did they give you a breakdown on how they got it all the way up to $600+? Especially just on your 4 animals.
Does it make any difference if it’s dip&pack, European mounts of finished taxidermy?

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
