This beautiful ONE OF A KIND rifle chambered for .257 Weatherby Magnum Custom rifle was owned by Herb Klein, who was a Dallas oil tycoon and world-renowned big game hunter & one of the founders of Weatherby. He was one of the best big game hunters in the world. In the mid 60's the legendary recording artist, jazz pianist/singer, Buddy Greco obtained this rifle from Mr. Klein who was a fan. Buddy said he would never forget that it was delivered to him wrapped in newspapers. The gun is in perfect condition. It has extensive gold inlay including trigger and bolt, and has Mr. Klein's name engraved on the bottom of the stock. Also mother of pearl inlays. This is a very unique one of a kind rifle and highly collectable.

Monish, I must honestly say that is one of the most ridiculous looking weapons I have ever seen. In fairness, I should note that a Holland & Holland Royal with classic rose and scroll is, to my mind, the acme of restrained embelishment.

Herb Klien , shot the rare Devil Ibex in Hunza with his custom .257 Weatherby Magnum...

IMHO...you hit it right on the nose. The "classic" looking rifle NEVER goes out of style....while the rococo style comes and goes.

I wish Herb Klein had left me the rifle in his will, I would have sold it for a future safari hunt....It's ugly as all get out! Like the wood...hate all the metal work!

I agree with selling it.... But ugly? That thing is pretty!

I have always wanted a rifle in this chambering!

Christian,

Indeed it does. I'm lucky though, I've never had to part with a rifle because of money! I only have traded and sold rifles because either they weren't what I needed or because they had problems. One rifle I parted with because it had issues still bothers me to this day, it was a Husqvarna 8X57 Mauser. It had a very nice custom walnut stock, it was crf, and it could shoot. Then, after shooting it at the range and Deer hunting with it I discovered several problems. The funniest thing that happened was THE FRONT SIGHT BLEW OFF THE RIFLE! The front sight, when I fired the rifle, blew off the rifle and cracked me on the shoulder! Then I traded it for a .30-40 Krag that came with 170 rounds of ammo. The guy didn't seem to be bothered by the problems it had.

Great caliber, the rifle is not for my taste but everyone is different. When this rifle was built in California it was probably the coolest thing around. H+H royal sidelocks dont do anything for me either unless they have nice wood.
