Hunted
Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, South Africa
This type of hunting which I looked skeptically at first......after some late raids I realize that it was the opposite of what people ussually think.
There are some diferent places where you can find Scrub Bull´s in Argentina as being in the Patagonian Mountains, Cordoba Mountains, where I live, or in the tight bushes up North.
These bovines left to their own in those mountains or close bushes, genarations after generations and with almost no contact with a man acquired a salvage, elusive and untamed character which makes your hunt a challenge as any of his others cousins sportier value.

The area where I hunt these Scrub Bull´s or Wild Oxen is in the Sierras de Córdoba......almost next to my home in the bushy mountains. At the begining We used to climb the Mountain riding in a horse back with out good results and quickly We realized that it was a mistake.....to much noise, to much movement.
Took us some time to know their movements and realize They had some more or less fixed passes from the higher lands to the lower lands to have access to better pastures.

Then We changed our technique......my friend and I climbed walking before the sunrise to get close to those passes and try to locate some herds with the new day light from a high point.....if We succeeded then began an approximation to shorten the distances and get a good place to finally try to make a shoot.

On the other side at the base, horses and mules are waiting and will be brought by other two experienced assistants after our call if the hunt is successfull and able to take all the meat down after slaughter the big bull.........

Some pics........

In the good old days they called that Cattle Rustling.

Pretty good, you don't have to go to the store to get your beef.

Thanks for sharing.
