Greetings everyone,
Just wanted to stop and say hi. I hunted plains game in Zimbabwe with Butch Walker back in ‘99 and then marriage, kids and life in general kept me hunting primarily stateside. Now I’m getting restarted on my African quests with a trip to SA this May, and then to Botswana in ‘27. I have long appreciated the insight and wisdom found in these pages and am happy to have finally joined the AH party. Thank you in advance for the help I will undoubtedly ask for!

Best of luck to everyone his year - stay safe and have fun.

Darin

My dad left me two Browning Safari rifles, a .458 Win and a .375 H&H. Someone has worked over the .375 action and it’s butter-smooth. Really fun to shoot.

Here’s the .375:

Welcome from Spokane!

Hello sir. A bit of waterfowling, yes. Mainly upland hunting as far as birds go but I love a good duck or goose hunt!
The Washington coast has been in my shrinking waterfowl bucket list!
Enjoy the forum!

Beauty! Your dad had great taste and I’ll bet you’re proud to have them. Two great chamberings too. I’m curious, does your 458 have the long (Mauser-style) extractor or the short push-feed style bolt? A very large % of the 458s I’ve handled have the push feed style bolt.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
