shooting 375 H/H

I have both and find the felt recoil to be comparable. About 15 rounds at one sitting from the bench is all I want from either.
Why would you shoot those from a bench?

I’m not a fan of practicing with a gun I’m not going to hunt with. I do a routine that I started due to cost of ammo and also find it good when using a rifle that has a lot recoil. I do 3 range sessions a week for 3 months leading up to my hunt and daily dry fire sessions off sticks. Once my rifle is sighted it’s only off sticks and with any cheap ammo. My range sessions are 6-12 rounds and I give myself 10 seconds at 100 yards and 15 at 200. That’s the total time to get your rifle on the sticks and send a round downrange. Force yourself at first as you’ll be surprised how accurate you become. I also mix in followup shots at different ranges.

Your PH will he happy. Mine is!
I do something similar but i limit myself to 5 rounds. I learn more on dry fire practice than the live round. The speed comes natural to me thankfully after a lot of ground hogs so I don’t practice it. My practice is more about instilling confidence in my mind at different ranges prior to a hunt. I know my day is eventually coming, but I’ve thankfully never wounded an animal on 12 safaris. I want to know I did everything possible prior to hunt to avoid that happening.

Sound advice!

Just a suggestion. Why not post a Thread asking for any member in your area or willing to meet up with you at a range within mutual driving distance that has a 375 to allow you to shoot it and help you with proper shooting position using sticks, shooting a 375.

To me, my 30-06 Mossberg Patriot has the same or more recoil than my 375H&H Remington Model 799. With that perspective I would much rather shoot my 375H&H than my M1 Garand, although the semi auto Garand is much more fun to shoot, and that ting of the empty clip being ejected.

The only down side to owning your own 375 is having to plan your North America big game hunts for elk, moose, bear, pigs, caribou, and bison, while thinking about what animals will make up your next Africa safari like eland, gemsbok, sable, hippo, croc, and more buff.

Oh...wait....there is no down side to owning your own 375.
