This has just been made available to me. Its a great property with fantastic game especially Leopard.

On Offer is a 14 DAY HUNT for 2 hunters on a 2 X 1 plus 1 observer. The 2 X 1 works as follows ( one hunter will be hunting all the available plains game and the other hunter will be hunting a Leopard plus all available plains game ) The observer may also share the hunting from what is made available per package.

All meals, laundry, drinks, staff, PH, skinners, vehicle inclusive.

This includes 1 Leopard. And 2 of everything listed. Giraffe, Kudu,Bush buck, Eland, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, Klipspringer, Bush-pig, Baboon, Hyena, Duiker, Grysbok, Civet, Jackal, Steenbok, Honey-badger, Genet, African Wildcat, plus 5 baits.

Should there be absolutely no real chance at a big Tom Leopard then a refund of $ 5000 will apply. In other words no shot was fired at a big male Leopard. If you miss then you will not be refunded.

Also included in this hunt is all ZTA ( Zimbabwe Tourism levies ) on the day rate and trophy fees. Plus the trophy prep and delivery to taxidermist in Bulawayo. Plus transfer to hunting lodge with one vehicle.

This hunt is selling for US$ 32 000 all in .

Realistically if you added everything up this hunt would normally sell close to US$ 50 000.

Not Included is pre-baiting @ $ 200 a day if requested . PH and staff Gratuities. Additional observers are $ 200 each.

This hunt will be conducted on private land in the West Nic areas south of Bulawayo . Over 50 000 acres . Fantastic accommodation with abundant game all over the place . Rocky outcrops spread throughout the ranch which makes it absolutely ideal for big Leopard.

No hound hunting allowed on this property. In my opinion there is no need, you will have Leopard on bait there will be Males, females and sub adults , just have to wait for the big guy to co operate.

Wow! bring lots of ammo on this one. Assuming 1 shot kills you will need 2.5 boxes just to check your rifle and kill your game!

Is 48 animals realistic on a 14 day leopard hunt? even with 2 guys and observers shooting, after all it sounds like they will be hunting with the same PH. That's 3.5 animals a day plus tending baits.

When is the best time to hunt a cat on this property Wayne?

Hi Brickburn best times would be between April and September. It's not advisable to hunt Leopard too late in the year when it's very hot.

Hi Diamondhitch you have a good point for sure and your point is duly noted. The idea behind this hunt is in the hope that the abundance of Plains game is utilized and not to have someone just target the Leopard which has been a issue in the past. Please understand that some of these animals are nocturnal so all depending on Leopard action at the time it may be possible to take 6 or so species in a day if we hunt a full day as well as a doing a night drive. Old baits can be used for Hyena, Jackal, Honey Badger, Civet and Genet cats even Bushpig. Sure there is a possibility that not 2 of everything will be harvested, If 2 of everything were to be harvested it would be great.

I really appreciate the input on this and I will look at this and present further options. I reckon if I can get a commitment on the plains game being utilized through several plains game hunters or even a big group of hunters at one time I am pretty sure I can sell a separate Leopard hunt with say a hand full of plains game to still make it lucrative for the land owner.

Regards

Wayne

Thanks Wayne. Hopefully someone bites on this, I would LOVE to read the hunt report!!!

What I have been able to do is the following : Basically we are looking at say a 14 day hunt @ $ 1250 per day. This can include an observer. $ 5000 for a Leopard ( only paid if shot ) and a commitment to $ 5000 worth of plains game which will include baits.

Works out to $ 27500 . Hopefully this is more reasonable.
