    Question John Sharp Safaris

Is John Sharp still running safaris? He was an outstanding PH in Zimbabwe but was getting on in age and maybe retired?

I google him and find a link for his web page but it errors out so I don't know if he is still in business or what.

The world of African hunting will be changed forever when John Sharp is no longer doing his thing....

Interesting. I have a pair of Courtney shoes made from kudu hide that I bought in Bulawayo in 1996 and taking them again this trip. My PH back then said that Sharp was known affectionately amongst his peers as "Rambo", due to his impressive build and trademark head band. Interesting guy.

I would call him "Rambo" because he walks into rivers and grabs crocs by the tail just for the fun of it....yowwwwza

John is most definitely still hunting, with no plans of retiring anytime soon. I just got back to Canada last week after a 15-day leopard/buffalo/plainsgame hunt with him, and had an absolutely awesome time. He's an absolute delight to hunt with, and I look forward to doing it again in a couple of years. The trophies were incredible -- a buffalo just over 40", a lovely leopard with a 15 1/2" skull, a 17-5/8" bushbuck, a 14-1/2" warthog, etc. plus regular encounters with all of the Big 5 including black rhino. But the real joy was getting to know a surprisingly humble living legend -- he's truly a wonderful host who goes out of his way to make a client feel like the centre of attention. As a previous poster mentioned, it will be a sad day in African hunting when John calls it quits.

Thank you for the update! I have met John personally but not had the chance to hunt with him. I am glad to hear he is still doing his thing!

John Sharp is still very much active and hunting in Zimbabwe. I just returned last weekend from two months in Zim and ran into him in Victoria Falls.

He is a stud. Plain and simple. I always think of Tarzan when I see him.

    Default John Sharp Safaris

I had the privilege to have John as my outfitter for a fifteen-day hunt in June of this year (he was PH to my hunting partner, Neo, who posted above).
John is a consistently calm and fearless gentleman. His attention to detail resulted in our safari being a magnificant African hunting experience.

John invited Shaun Buffee to be my PH on this safari. Shaun was an excellent choice. His skill and perseverance created the opportunity for me to take an absolute brute of a leopard on June 9th. I'm looking forward to hunting with John (and hopefully Shaun) again in 2013!

I met Jhon at the atlanta show this year. Very nice guy and even though is no spring chicken still sharp as a tack.
I have walked in the tracks of the elephant, heard the lion roar and met the buffalo on his terms. I shall never be the same.
