Reminton 300RUM for Plains with 180 Barnes TSX
Hi Gang
I was playing around on the bench and loaded up some Barnes 180 TSX with Retumba, they grouped well the ones that got about 3050 on the chrono were 1/2 minute at 100 hundred yards, anyone use them on Plains Game in a Rum?
.Always been a Nosler fan in that gun the accubonds & partions did great but see alot if goood stuff about the barnes on here for plains.
The 375 did not like them so far seems to like the 300 partions better for lion but want to carry some 260 grain for plains if I get the urge ti use the 375.
ThanksBigun

Never used them in a Rum but I'm a big TSX fan I'm loading the 180gr TSX for the wifes 30-06 and my 308 to use in May/June on the East Cape they group well and should do well on any plains game the East Cape has to offer. I have done well here in the US with them I've taken Moose, Caribou, Whitetail, Mule Deer, Black Bear and Grizzly and the proofs on the wall.

For the African load I'm using H4350 for the 06 and IMR 4320 for the 308 both are pushing over 2600 fps and grouping 1/2" groups at a 100.

NO,NO,NO, you need to push a TBBC at that will chrono at 3700fps at 300m, that or just use a 220gr silvertip at 3600fps at 300m....Come on, that RUM should go at least as fast as your dang boat....

My wife and I took a bunch of plains game with a 30-06 shooting the MRX 180's and nothing took more than one shot, and we only had to track one animal (and that was because we went downhill and he went uphill, and though he didn't go more than 100 yards the brush was thick). every bullet exited but one (a gemsbok that the shot went through both shoulder blades and stopped on the far side).
Personally I think a 300RUM is overkill for plains game, but as long as you can put those bullets on target, and you watch your background, I think it'll do just fine...

Wow Frederik that hot, i like my barrels too much for that, but just got my factory headstamped brass in for my 280AI so back to my first choice and taking my custom 280AI, 160 grain accubond it gets it done. Much lighter gun than the sendro so better for stalking. But I hang on to that load for something.
With a nonstop flight and no connecting flights I figure if the guns get there so will my ammo (I hope) or I be shooting the 375 for the trip.
My wife just says I like to load and shoot lolBigun

How fast do you drive the 160 in your AI?
