I often wonder why there aren't more tented camps in South Africa. It seems that most operations are based out of nice chalet's or fancied up farm houses. I suppose it's to provide a "higher level of comfort" but for some reason I miss the tented style sleeping. There is just something about those tented camps with full bathroom that is really neat. It "feels" more wild. The air seems more pure and you hear the outdoors more than you do in a chalet. It is a bit cooler in the winter months but the atmosphere is totally different than sleeping inside. I've hunted in tented camps in RSA and Zim but haven't really seen them advertised much anymore in RSA. Has anyone really thought about bringing these back?
