Well, I don't think it's very difficult to guess who my childhood hunting hero was....

Alexander Sasha Siemel [Aleksandrs Ziemelis] (1890-1970) was an adventurer, hunter, guide, actor, writer, photographer, and lecturer.
He spoke seven languages and boasted of having experienced more adventure in a single year than most men had witnessed in a lifetime.
He is a legend among sportsmen, having successfully hunted more than 300 jaguars or éigres, as the big cats are colloquially known in parts of Latin Americaæ“n the Mato Grosso jungles of Brazil.
Siemel's accomplishments in pursuing the large and often dangerous jaguar (the biggest cat in the western hemisphere and third largest in the world) are all the more impressive due to the fact that on many of his hunts he was armed only with a spear.

Pig Sticking

good day sand rat from just across a couple of dunes and a small salt pond...[lol]

pig sticking was a very popular sport in the 1880's in the Brit army in India with teams hotly contesting the cup!

Years ago, I was a young high school track coach in Texas. I had the privilege of coaching one of those athletes that makes people think you know what you are doing. He was one of four high jumpers in all of Texas that year that had cleared 7 feet. We had an off weekend in the middle of our season with no track meet. The next Monday I saw my high jumper and asked him what he did over the weekend. He said, "Coach, I went pig hunting." I said, "Great! did you get any." He said, "Yes sir, I got two." I asked him what he shot them with. He said, "Coach, I used a spear!" I walked away shaking my head.

Wow! I always thought that you couldn't get much more up close and personal to your quarry than spear hunting. Great photos, hope more get added. Thanks.

Hi Observe,
I swear you ,this hunt is a fake.
Don't belive all, what you are finding in the net.
This heavy boar is wounded, under drugs, or tame ,or all of them .
The dogs have nothing to do,only barking !! and the Keiler stands quiet ,almost sleepy,no attack to them ,or to the hunter. No try to break out.
Belive me,reality is complete different.
Greetings
Foxi

Not as cool as a jaguar, hog or a water buffalo, but pretty fun to me
