Safari Club International Foundation and Botswana Set to Open 11th Annual African Wildlife Consultative Forum
Safari Club International Foundation and Botswana Set to Open 11th Annual African Wildlife Consultative Forum
Washington, DC Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) and the government of Botswana are pleased to announce the opening of the 11th annual African Wildlife Consultative Forum (AWCF) in Kasane, Botswana.
The AWCF is a regional meeting that gathers hunters, conservationists, and government representatives to addresses wildlife conservation and management issues across the southern, eastern, and central portion of Africa.
"The role that SCI Foundation plays in hosting this annual meeting surpasses any other hunter-led NGO in the world," said SCI Foundation Executive Director Bob Benson. "The dynamic, yet inclusive conference brings together the greatest conservation minds to tackle the most difficult issues of our times."
"I invite any organization that supports sustainable-use wildlife conservation to join with the hunting community to help eliminate poaching. Poaching is currently one of the leading conservation concerns in Africa and we must prevent threats to the livelihoods of communities who depend on wildlife," said SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer.
"Please stay connected with SCI Foundation as I tweet and post daily information to all our social media platforms. Staying informed is crucial to being an advocate for wildlife conservation. Use #AWCF2012 to find us on twitter," concluded Hosmer.
About the African Wildlife Consultative Forum: The AWCF brings together the most influential countries in sub-Saharan Africa for a week-long forum discussing wide ranging wildlife management, conservation, and sustainable-use priorities. AWCF provides the only annual opportunity for each country to compare common approaches to the future management of their wildlife resources. SCI Foundation is proud to be the prime catalyst and support base for this invaluable forum to ensure that sustainable use conservation and hunting remain a management priority within each country.
Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that funds and manages worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation, outdoor education, and humanitarian services. Since 2000, SCIF has provided over $50 million to these causes around the world. Visit Safari Club International Foundation for more.
