Our group is going to South Africa in Aug for hunt and photographic safaris. We are debating whether we will need the rabies vaccine or not. We are getting the rest of the recommended vaccines (antimalarial, hep a&B, etc) but the reasons we are debating the rabies series is due to the cost of the series of shots (plus they are only good for a year and then require yearly boosters) and they are only available a hr+ drive from home. Are these necessary? We will not be in populated areas that would have lots of dogs - we will be in the rural regions only.
