bill like the thread :thumb: but dont let the other take the fun out of it, mellow for a few days and think of the fun and excitement you will have with your son on the days leading up to leaving, and when you actually arrive in SA with him. some on here live in african countries or are involved with places there and our kids have a great advantage in being there full time or regularily, and i know how much my son loves it. so go and live his 1st trip with him, and may it be the 1st of many for the 2 of you.

Spike this will be our second trip to SA.Been a few years as we had to save back up and did some hunting here in the states. We try and hunt two areas each time we go to see new areas and get the most out of those plane tickets.I will not let anything stop this from being another great trip.

how old is your boy and want part of africa do you live in.Hoping in a few years to see other countries other then SA but thought it would be best till my son was alittle older. He was 12 on the first trip now 15 thinking after he turns 16 we may try some other countries

It will not be long since he is 8 already.I wish I would have thought of hunting africa earlier.I think after being there before I would have started taking him at 10 not 12 when we went the first time.Great place I think to start a young hunter as there is so much more game to see and have chances at.Plus you dont have to worry about them drawing a tag to get there chance to hunt.
Do you offer any kind of youth deers hunts?

bill i dont quite live there but my other hat is takeri private reserve so i am in zambia quite a lot through the year. finn is 14 now and was 6 when he 1st came out there with his ruger 10/22. nice to see you work out ways of spending more time than most on your trips. SA is ok i suppose :heh::stirring: but check out the other countries (zambia is good ;)), and he is old enough to enjoy them.

Zambia is on the list of places I would love to do with my son.Sable and bushbuck would be on that list.I would also like to see namibia and show him there wide opened spaces finding mtn zebra and other plains game. Then one day maybe one of the great buff areas adding the nissia wildbeast to the list.Plus somewhere in between all that a place to hunt a nice roan maybe burka fusa for that.Ever since he seen a roan that has been his dream animal to hunt.Africa just has me wanting to see more of it all.

nice list bill. when you want to head to zambia give us a shout and we will see if we can make a plan. we dont have roan but we can arrange to add one on elsewhere, and i am sure we can find a couple of non trophy animals as extras for your son ;)

my little boy was 21 and just got his college degree 2 months prior when I took him.
I had never thought I'd go to Africa to hunt. Wanted to as a child, of course, but my life took
a different, unexpected turn in my early 30s. I was a pharmacist on the verge of being able to
do or go anywhere (within reason) that I wanted to do. Next thing I know, I'm entering seminary
and starting a missions ministry while preaching in numerous churches.

For 15 years I had traveled to Ukraine, Moldova, and mainland China leading evangelism teams.
It was a great ride, but over the years God led me into interim pastoring and now long-term pastorate.
Still a pharmacist and bi-vo minister, I have the yearning to travel, to hunt, and see the big world.
No longer doing overseas missions...... my plate is really full.... africa beckons.

My first trip was supposed to be with my wife but she had to have hand surgery and told me to
take my son instead but that I had to go that year because I was driving her crazy. She added 2
conditions, though. 1. Promise to take her within 4 years so she could hunt impala and kudu.
    2. Shoot her a zebra so she could have a rug.

So, 2 years later, here she and I go (July with Marius). She looks at her zebra skin every day.

My daughter graduates college this year, wanted her to go to africa with us, but she wants to
go out west and hunt. It seems she wants a trophy mule deer and a mountain lion for her present.

oh, and btw, I have used the dead dog on the side of the rode as a sermon illustration in my church.
Obviously, it's not a "city church". lol.

Your daughter sounds like she has some fun hunts in the future to.My son is wanting to chase a mtn. lion also.

Great to see all worked out and your wife will get to share africa with you also. I already know marius will make your trip a great one.
