Form 4457

Time is getting close. Time to start the last bit of paperwork. Rifle permits and 4457. Rifle permits are self explanatory. 4457 is too, but what do I have to exactly declare on 4457?
Rifle, scope, binos, cameras, iPads, spare scope etc. etc.

What i was told when i called the customs office.
1. Rifles
2. Any new equipment that you have just purchased and will be taking along.
the example that they gave me were:
a. computers
b. Camera
c. Video equipment
d. scopes that are detached from the rifle.
However if you have the sales slip along for these items, you will not need a 4457 filled out.

Include it all , better safe than sorry, these docs are meant for return in into the USA... My local customs said, give them my card, if there is a problem, they can call me.....The customs in Atlanta, ,saw the local customs card in my gun case, got his attention, ask a question or two, when he found out he was a Captain, No problem.

I didn't have any need for 4457 other than the rifles. That said my Dad brought along a new iPad and camera so I recommended one for those, I don't know if he did or not since he was never asked for them either.

I list any items of value that are serialized. Never used to bother when I crossed south of the US border, but last year coming up from Sonora I got a very polite but lengthy azz chewing by Customs for not having one for my binos and gun. The Mexican firearms permit always used to be plenty. I learned my lesson and fill one out no matter what border I cross. Pretty sure I would fill one out if I ever have to go to California again! Lol

You do not need one for traveling to Ca.......Probably everything you have would be illegal here except for dope or undocumented (cannot call them illegal) aliens.

Sad thing, there are some great sportsman and wonderful country with outstanding animals in CA. Unfortunately the major cities dictate the politics of the place. I believe UC Berkley to be the ground zero of Libtards!
I drove from MT with some other cat hunters to speak and oppose the mountain lion hunting ban, but they had made their decision before they ever heard an argument or listened to the warnings.

^^^So true. Just like the ban on dogs for bear hunting and the ban on lead, lead-core bullets. Throw in the ban on so many firearms including ones used for hunting and you can understand my frustration. One of many reasons why I prefer to hunt out of state now days.

I've never been to Commifornia, and plan to keep it that way. Too many bans, firearm restrictions, smog and people for me. Half my guns wouldn't be allowed based on capacity alone.
