The Carnivore Tracker App. is the first of its kind to gather sightings (presence data) for all wild carnivores across Namibian at the touch of a button.

Carnivore Tracker has been designed for a multiple user base; farmers, hunters, researchers, general public, tour guides, tourists and government departments (MET).

The Cheetah Conservation Fund in association with the Large Carnivore Management Association of Namibia (LCMAN) aims to collect real time sighting information for all of Namibia’s carnivores. It is believed that carnivores are declining at a rapid rate both globally and in Namibia due to a variety of reasons such as; human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss.

The Carnivore Tracker App. is free to download for everyone and can be used anywhere. Every sighting is vitally important.

Please see attached document for more details.

Hope it is a secure platform.

Good to know, thanks for the information Jerome. Due diligence is needed when researching a hunt.

LCMAN Update

Today we reached 250 logged sightings on Carnivore Tracker. This includes sightings of 24 out of the 33 species on our list. The excel spreadsheet containing the raw data will be put into the shared google doc so that everyone has access to it. As outlined in the recent June meeting marketing and promotion of the App only really started in May this year. Since then we have seen growth in the user base, the number and spread of sightings. We are doing well in the Central and Northern regions but South and East still needs work. If you are an organisation in this area we need your support, promotion and use of the App.

Carnivore Tracker now has its own page on the LCMAN website as well as info and links on the front page. We have a facebook page and twitter account @CTapp_Namibia as well as a newly edited promo video, which is really taking off on social media. This video will also be aired on Air Namibia flights from the 1st of September across their entire network which will reach approx. 112,000 people flying into Namibia.

thanks
