The Bone Collector and Mr. Scentblocker Most Wanted were here in South Africa!!!! You bet, you read right, yip; Michael Waddell and Scott Shultz were here with a group of well-tuned and very experienced Bow Hunters from the USA. We tackled our Linksfontein and Gamagara areas, on a safari that spanned over 2 weeks in the bush! Talk about a sharp edge hunt WOW!! The arrows flew fast and furious, as the gut pile specialists twanged their way into bagging some really exciting trophies!!

We had the pleasure of welcoming 1st time hunters to Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris from Argentina and Chile - Sebastian Carbone, Martin Lafemina, Mario Guarino, Sergio Schwab and Juan Soler. Ph's Harry Sparks, Yvan Nieuwoudt and Tomas De Catsro were on hand to take care of the group on this week long hunt at Gamagara. We had Wessel Jacobs behind the camera filming the entire hunt and without a doubt; this excellent footage will be cherished by our hunters for many years to come.

After a few fun days down in Cape Town, 1st timers to Africa Dan and Deb DeGeorge from Rochester New York USA touched down in Upington for a 7 night safari at Thuru. PH Jacques Taljaard took charge of the hunt and both Dan and Deb had an awesome stay in this magnificent camp and hunting area. Braam and Mardoret, who are the managers at Thuru, helped Dan with the planning of his Cape Town excursion which turned out to be a real treat for Dan & Deb. It is so rewarding for the whole WJVS team to share our special piece of Africa with our clients and to see them enjoying themselves so much.

All the way from Springfield Illinois USA, we welcomed David & Mary Stjern for their 1st experience with Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris in South Africa. We started corresponding with David a year back already and met again at the SCI convention... The rest is history! Armed with a .270 Winchester rifle and PH Jacques Taljaard in our Thuru area, it wasn't long before David had some great trophies in the salt. The weather was great and both David and Mary really enjoyed themselves with our typical South African hospitality.

Denny Rosson from Tahoka Texas and his son Aaron from Cameron North Carolina USA, joined PH's John Tinley and Johnny Vivier on this their 1st hunt to Africa. After surfing the internet for a destination to go on safari, Aaron crossed paths with Johnny and it wasn't long before this Special Forces vet had his and Denny's dates booked and they were on their way to Kimberley for a hunt of a lifetime. To say that we had lots of fun with these 2 crazy characters from the USA is an understatement... We had a blast!!John Tinley did a great job in guiding both Denny and Aaron out in the sticks.

Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris was very honored to have former United States Navy General Medical Officer (GMO), Ed Stevenson and his wife Pat from Carrollton Georgia USA join us at Wintershoek on a 7 day safari. PH John Tinley was assigned to hunt with Ed on this his 1st safari. The whole trip was a huge success with some exciting species taken and Pat having a great time as well. At this time we want to thank Dr. Richie Bland from Atlanta for recommending WJVS to Ed and also to Fred Williams for his advice and information that was passed onto Ed& Pat to make their trip such a memorable experience.

A wonderful report came in today from Garrick Mishaga of Mentor, Ohio USA about his safari with PH Leroux (Lash) Coetzee in our Gamagara area. It was Garrick's 1st visit to South Africa and at 72 years young, it is most certainly not his last! The hunt was conducted the right way, all walk and stalk and armed with a .300 Win Mag rifle that Garrick borrowed from Lash, 1 shot kills were the order of the day!! The whole WJVS team wants to thank Garrick for first of all putting his confidence and trust in George & Catherine Robey of Antbear African Adventures and for booking this hunt with WJVS.

It was through a meeting that took place in Midland Texas, with PH Johnny Vivier, Hannes Pienaar, Mike Ford and also a reassuring chat with Fred Williams in Florida that brought John Daniels and Woody Woodside to hunt with Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris recently. John had unfortunately a bad experience in another country hunting for Buffalo and returned home empty handed and very wary of any outfitters! We want to really thank John and Woody for entrusting the WJVS team, what a fabulous safari was had by our 2 clients.

For many years Kleber Khayat from Brazilhas been corresponding with Johnny in the hopes of getting to Africa someday. Well on the 22nd September 2012 Klebersdream became a reality when he and his mother Ivetetouched down in Kimberley for their 1st ever safari in Africa.It was most unfortunate that just days before the group left from Brazil, Klebers wifeElayne, had to undergo surgery and Ferdinando (took ill) and his wifeEliana had to postpone their safari as well - Turns out that all is good news and both Elayne and Ferdinando are doing well.

All the way from Lewistown, Montana USA, we welcomed Bow Hunter Paul Cromwell and his wife Priscilla to our Wintershoek Reserve. Paul had already booked this hunt with us at the SCI show in Reno in 2011 already. So when the big day finally arrived for Paul to test his bow hunting skills in Africa, he was more than prepared and ready with much correspondence between us and advice from Tom and Linda St. John as from Lewistown. With the Professional guidance of PH KoosDe Wet and tracker dog Koevoet, it wasn't long before Paul had the skinners hard at work.

It was Richard's and Alex's 1st Safari to South Africa and we are most grateful to them both for finding Thuru Lodge WJVS on the World Wide Web!! Once again the Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris team had the privilege to welcome from Norway, Tom Jensen's clients, Borre Syversen, Odd Clemmet Haugerud, Sture Mikalsen, Ralf Elveseter, Henning Evensen, Johann Ramstad and Haakon Lunde to Thuru lodge. We had PH's Jaques Taljaard, PH Hannes Vlok and PH Johnan Maritz taking up the front ranks and leading the hunters into the bush. It was a great hunt with some unbelievable trophies being taken.
