    The 700 Nitro Express from L'Atelier Verney-Carron

If you want to have the biggest stick on the playground, why not just build a bore gun? I've always fancied the idea of building an 8 Bore ML for shits and giggles. I think they are just wonderful..and quit romantic. Those old timers hunting ivory with those monster bore guns. A 1" hole...

Holland & Holland double rifles....off face after little use..?

I agree, of all the manufacturers of doubles, HYEM is the only one I would have make one for me, if I decided not to make it for myself.

    Double Rifle Misconceptions

I've shot a couple old English doubles that by no means did both barrels shoot good groups. Generally speaking the right barrel is shot more, so maybe worn more, but even on a evenly worn gun I've seen one barrel shoot 4 inch group and the other 1.5. You just can't control the metal at that...

    Double Rifle Misconceptions

Lucky bastard! How is that I may become so lucky as to be a PH? Always was my dream since I was first able to read about the greats such as Baker, Hunter, Rauch, Selous, Bell (and more), and of course PHC...my other dream to be a pro pilot I achieved..somewhat. But your still a lucky...

    Double Rifle Misconceptions

They are picky, I've had some barrels that are pains in the rear!! I've once or twice have had to switch barrels because one just would not cooperate... I reload my ammo so I tune it as things change. There are tricks you can do in the field that can move the POI some if things get really...

    Double Rifle Misconceptions

Wow 12 years old and still a good read. Valid points all, having built and own more than a few doubles now over the years, folks struggle with the time it takes to build and regulate, and that they are NOT designed for high pressure cartridges. Everybody wants some stupid 50KPSI round that...

    Big Bore Addiction Group

Yeah it's hard to stop with just one, after a couple .500, I decided to see how a .577NE would be like, so I built this one. I'm thinking .600NE, next time.

    Searcy Double

You know, I've handled some of his guns, never shot one, but overall I like them alot. They are unique to him, and his style. I do use the same PAC-NOR barrels, and just love them.

    Searcy Double

Searcy does not list his big bore guns any longer on his webs site. Hence my question. If he is still building them it must be on the QT. They were very expensive, $35000.00 to $85000.00...... Have you seen the photo's of the T-REX double that guy makes? That thing is cool! I guess he...

    Sabatti report

They are designed to be shot standing, it is a pointing gun, not a benchrest long distance weapon, so yes. If it shoots accuractly from other shooting positions, then icing on the cake, and I think thats great. I personnaly use a shooting stand because I in no way can shoot off hand well...

    Searcy Double

I noticed he does not advertise the really big stuff any more. Has he stopped making the 577, 600, 700?

    Sabatti report

Sorry, phyically impossible to have a gun recoil the same way in a sitting postion (bench) and standing position. Double Gun regulation is about the recoil, twist, lift, weight, grip and load. I'm not saying they can't be close, but they are not the same period. You can prove this to your...

    Sabatti report

Have to agree here with bigtex, doubles are regulated from a standing bench. They will only shoot properly from this position. If they do not regulate from this position then in the field they will not be accurate. Believe me, I've regulated barrels from the bench and they shot lousy off...

Hunting with a Hammer double rifle

I've built a number of doubles on modern and per war hammer actions. I too love and prefer them to box locks for a number of reasons. One is that by design they are side locks which gives greater reliability. No need for cocking indicators, and they can be de-cocked. Field repairs are easy...

    45-120

I've built three doubles in the modern loading of this cartridge, 500 grain bullet at 2200 FPS and its a real killer. I like it because you can use a very narrow framed action. I did however have a custom reamer that opens the throat and neck up for modern bullets (.458). Loads are exactly the...

    The Sabatti Double Rifle

Every now again I make one, I have a 577 I built on a Jana 10ga that is just a blast to shoot. I'm looking to maybe sale it to fund a trip Africa. I have another action I picked up a while ago to build another one. The one I have was originally built for Tom Ondress, but he passed before I...

    The Sabatti Double Rifle

Akmike your everywhere my friend, hows that ole 450-500NE hammer gun express my brother sold you shooting? Is that it on Cal Pappes web page? Its a shooter! At any rate, got to agree here, I try to get my guns to 2" composite, with clover leaf individual barrel groups. It takes lots of...
