This sounds like something to chat about around the camp fire. Thats just a stupid idea.
Anyway if i had the funds id be on this mate. Look forward to seeing you in June
Right the problem has been solved!!
All it was, was too much slow burning powder trying to ignite. I went to my buddies place to test some new loads and they all went off very well and I even shot some outstanding groups. all using the same primers and powder. Albeit i have worked up a load...
Guys I love that 4 bote and the 505. Feel free to have a shot on them. Both bloody good fun.
@Philip Glass load development is precisely that development and getting it right. Then your good to go in the field. All the deer ive taken apart from x2 have been done with home loads. Also all my DG...

On my end it come up in GBP. Might be over budget but not by much and well worth it. Back in 2002 I got myself an Omega seamaster pro...
All 20 of the cases with primers had the same report. I seem to remember the last tub of n165 powder i had no issues with and used the same batch of primers
Well I do have a fresh pack of 1000 primers I can try from. Only that that's confusing me is the 20 primed cases I fired this morning all went off without an issue
Marius it's ammo I've loaded myself. I have a feeling it may be the powder as my old tub of n165 didn't have any issues.
Saying that I tried to dry the powder in my over last night. It did flow better through my fingers after about 30 mins at 45c
Well I have called all the suppliers I know and it seems that there are no Fed primers in the UK!! Non are due until 2028. I did just fire off all the cases I pulled and they all went off without a glitch. Got me thinking might be the powder.
If I load the pulled ammo with no powder just the primers they all go off. That to me would say the pin is hitting hard enough. Im with the school of thought that the primers im using are just not hot enough
I dont think its the pin or spring. The rifle has hardly seen any work and I shot off some primed cases just to get the feel of it and they all went off without any issues
I use the same primers in all my other large rifle cases but I see the logic. Do y'all think the primers have got a little damp?? If so can they be dried out? Hard to find lrg mag primers in the UK
Went to the range today to shoot my 505. Anyway had a few too many click bangs than one would want. Cases are brand new, powder is N165 135 grns of and I'm using cci mag primers. Bullet is a 525 grn. The powder charge practically fills the case so I'm ruling out a flash over. Other than that I'm...
Has anyone got any experience with www.trophyboars.com??? Im considering an Ibex with them but want to see if anyone has used them before??
Many thanks as always
Ok just seen your pic of the 2 powders and like i said thats what happend to me, I use a lot of Vit powders and all the bottle loot the same apart from the tiny number on them. I always double then triple check
Im just glad you OK @sestoppelman. I have had the same sort of thing happen on a rem 700 30-06. It was due to a heavy charge on a hand load. looking at your load it all seems ok so god know what happend but he must bee looking down on you
The 505 is truly an amazing cal and Im glad to say I can say I have one in the safe. I love the thing.
@AZDAVE is an absolute gent and will help you if he can. The new owner wont be let down
@HankBuck I hate to pull this card but Im going to. I have been shot at more times than I care to remember and have had a few close calls.
In all times the drills that we did it training just kicked in. When things didnt go as we wanted them to we improvised. In a nutshell you are still having...
It also highlights that the client should drill and drill and drill rapid fire until they can operate the rifle in a smart and swift manner.
Pisses me off when you can see the client hasnt put in practice on a DG hunt.
Im with @grand veneur on not taking the shot with the other buff behind
I would use the 416 Rigby on the PG you have mentioned in a heartbeat. Last time I checked the animal is dead or alive it cant be more dead than if you used a 375. Eland are a big animal too.
Also it will give you confidence with using the 416
Guys if your thinking about getting this just go for it. I have one in the same cal. Its an epic tool to have in the arsenal and surprisingly easy to shoot.
@krish GLWS mate you might be better off holding onto this one
