    Partition 416 : any opinion?

2 one shot kills with 400 gr Nosler partitions in 416 rem mag this year in Uganda for Nile buff. One was a frontal shot. Both bullets were recovered and performed perfectly. One shot was 50 yards the other 80. Originally was looking for SAF, but couldn’t find them.

Dollar vs Rand: Impact on Trophy Prices and Daily Rates?

Great thread! I agree that done deals should never be renegotiated. However, US hunters have more leverage than ever with the current exchange rate. The bottom line is that our money is worth more and should be able to buy more. It's that simple. That with the reduced cost of fuel should...

    Taxidermy Base Ideas

Do not just put sand in the base! You will be dealing with loose sand on your floors for the rest of your life. I make all my own bases to save some expense and also because it is fun. First, cut 3/4 plywood to your dimensions, and reinforce underneath so it does not warp. Make sure you put...

    Layover in Johannesburg advice

I would do stay at African Sky. It is worth the money and it absolutely first class. The gun permitting system is also convenient and seem less. The other thing I would consider is moving your flight up to a later one to PE. Get some rest and relax. The harder you push the travel envelope...

Death of Zimbabwe’s Best-Loved Lion Ignites Debate on Sport Hunting

I would not waste my time even attempting to argue with this guy. It is a losing battle as he would not have the mental capacity to change his mind even when confronted with concrete facts. A long time ago, someone said, something to the effect that it is impossible to use facts to change...

A question for the Professional Hunters, European hunters and African hunters...

A big brownie for sure. It's a tough hunt as the weather is usually miserable in the best places but the element of true danger is definitely there and a Big Brown bear is just freaking huge....you truly don't ever know how big there are until you approach him in real life.

    Hunting Brown Bear in Russia

Blood Lions: Blowing The Lid Off The Canned Hunting Industry

I agree that there is not much of a conservation value to hunting captive bred lions. It is a business. It's all about supply and demand. It's too expensive to hunt true wild lions for most hunters out there. The outfitter gets to make money and the hunter is thrilled to have the...

What to do when a Safari goes wrong?

My advice on this is twofold. One: never buy a donated hunt unless you can go into it with both eyes open. Now, don't get me wrong, there are many operators who offer donated hunts to help the cause of hunting, conservation and marketing, and do a wonderful job. However, some look at it a...

I have hunted Blue Duikers a couple of times with dogs. It's an awesome hunt but very difficult because the shooting is instinctive as the dogs are running the duiker and barking and it all happens quickly. A BD is a pretty soft target and it does not take much too slow him down. I am no...

No blood, no trophy fee. Reaction to a shot is subject to one's interpretation and can cause disputes among parties. When there is a contract in place and money at stake, there must be a clear line drawn. That line is blood.

Small Bores for Small African Game?

Most hunters that pursue the small stuff or the tiny ten are usually looking to do something with taxidermy when the quest is completed. A genet should be taken with a 22. Most if not all outfitters will have one laying around. A 222 or a 22 hornet with the least expanding bullets bullets...
