    Fair chase hunting

500 miles in any direction... Thats approximately 800km As a South African, considering end to end of our country if about 1 700 or so km, this is a far stretch. Here is a 500 mile radius circle for reference, would love to know where the "It is land with cattle fence. For 500 miles in any...

    SOUTH AFRICA: Double Giraffe Hunt

I am actually not sure on the price they would give. I reckon it would be around R15/kg (maybe someone else can give a better answer??) I wish I had saved it now that you say! The workers actually took the tongue though.

    SOUTH AFRICA: Double Giraffe Hunt

The first bull we are going to make a variety of rugs with. The second bull was cut far enough for a pedestal mount, however I need to decide exactly where he is going, and do some measurements first to see what fits. So it is pedestal vs shoulder at the moment. And from the back skin we will...

    SOUTH AFRICA: Double Giraffe Hunt

Giraffe are stupid and easy to see - until you try hunt them. I think I was lucky, and the knowledge of the property gave me an advantage. I know many guys that have struggled to get into shooting range of a good bull after finally declaring they wish to shoot one. The meat is great! I really...

    SOUTH AFRICA: Double Giraffe Hunt

Thanks CAustin! Yes he had some really dark colour, but he was also very unique in that his yellow seemed much lighter than normal which gave a great contrast in my opinion. I think he will make an awesome trophy!

    SOUTH AFRICA: Double Giraffe Hunt

It had been months of planning. We have a property near Northam in the Limpopo Province that has blown up with giraffe the last few years. It i not something we thought we would hunt, but they have just got a bit out of control, with some 15 giraffe on the +/- 400 hectare property. We had...

Trophy the film - let your voice be heard

Thank you for taking this leap of faith! I hope that the film will screen in South Africa at some point - but if not it is still ok. The effort and dedication you have gone through for the entire hunting community must be commended. I have been following your Facebook page and recently your...

Hi guys! I am reintroducing myself. I used to be relatively active a few years ago, but between studying and hunting I just never got around to posting my own threads or replying to others threads/comments. So here I am (again). So just a quick about me: I live in South Africa, and have...

    The Debate About Rhino Hunting

The debate about rhino hunting (Richard Emslie, Scientific Officer IUCN SSC African Rhino Specialist Group, written in 2005 for the EAZA Rhino Campaign 2005/6 Info Pack) As can be expected, the use of hunting as a conservation tool generates much debate. This is primarily due to philosophical...

    Black Rhino Hunt Fall Out

Been off the forum for a while. See quite a bit has happened here! I did however follow the whole DSC auction and it baffles me how antis could be so ignorant. Then I stumbled on this article from savetherhino (who I thought - at first - were also ignorant on how to go about this). I was...

    malaria free zones

Just check with your doctor as mentioned. I have hunted Limpopo my whole life and so far I have been lucky to avoid malaria (had tick bite fever once - but that was in summer). Generally you don't see mosquitos in the winter months either. If you hunting near Kruger chances are there are malaria...

Thanks Mannlicher I didn't even spot it! I will try get hold of Brooklyn Circle Gunsmiths to see if they have a spare part - or do you think it will be better to go for a different maybe newer model instead of the second hand one?

    Questions from a rookie.

Don't go for speed on your bow, keeping it dead quiet will get you much further than a fast arrow on these string jumpers! Guaranteed. I keep my bow between 270 to 280 fps, but its like a whisper, and its worked well for me. Try keep your shots on impala within 20m when you hunt from a blind...
