    First trip to SA

Thanks for all the pointers guys, and sestoppelman, I think you are right about trips like this. Two years of planning and think all rolled into one week that happens so fast you hardly get a chance to stop and think, wow, I am hunting on another continent. I have spent my entire life reading...

    First trip to SA

I just confirmed my first trip to SA with KMG Hunting Safaris and paid my deposit. Can't believe it is actually going to happen. I've gone through my checklist of things to do, passport, plane tickets, etc. But what are some things you guys have found that you forgot at home that you...

    Deer Hunting with .223??

I think that is one reason there is a big influx in .223 these days. Both my brother-in-laws are veterans of the current wars and love there .223 AR's. They are both very accurate with them, I guess after sending thousands of rounds downrange you get a feel for a gun. Armalite has been...

    Africa & Camo

I was reading another post where a guy asked about a ghille suit, it was the general consensus that its unnecessary and that camo would be fine. My question is, do you guys recommend camo? If so what patterns? Our camo here in the US is very leafy and green or dark to represent shadows...

    Deer Hunting with .223??

well I have had this discussion at length with my brother. He bought a .223 CZ last summer for deer hunting. He has found the gun to be extremely accurate and attests that to the reason he feels comfortable with it. He did kill a medium sized buck about 125lb field dressed this season with...

    DEER RIFLES IN AFRICA

well I always say " If it can't be killed with a .30/06 I've got no point hunting it" With that said I believe a well placed .30/06 would kill darn near anything. IF you guys grew up hunting large game and shooting big bore rifles you're used to the recoil, but bring someone who has...

    Bowhunting SA first timer!

the only reason I asked is on our larger North American game (moose, elk caribou) which is more comparable in size to Kudu and Eland it is becoming more popular to shoot them there. But that is with a rifle not a bow. I agree with you guys, they cant run far when they cant breathe.

    Bowhunting SA first timer!

well I have a 32 inch draw length and I'm shooting a little north of 300fps and I think i'm over 80 ft/lbs KE Its a little overkill for whitetail but I like pass throughs. (I lost my first buck I ever shot with a bow due to a slight quartering shot and hitting the off side shoulder) I like...

    Bowhunting SA first timer!

well I am also taking a .30/06 along because I'm not going to put all my eggs in one basket with the bow. I plan on doing three days with a gun and 2 with a bow, i'll see if I can do one spot and stalk and one from a hide. I would really like to take a warthog with my bow. But I will be...

    Bowhunting SA first timer!

I am planning a hunt to SA for wildebeest, impala, and warthog. I plan to take my bow along and hunt a couple days with it. I shoot a PSE with a 70lb draw and a 400+ grain arrow. I feel this will be plenty enough to take any of these species. I only have 5 hunting days and dont know if...

    First trip to Africa

I have been in Contact with Marius at KMG and I thank you guys for your replies. I believe he will set us up with everything we need for a memorable week. The hunt I am looking at would be warthog, wildabeest, impala and possible blesbok. I believe this would give a good representation of...

    First trip to Africa

I am beginning my research and planning for a hunt to Africa for my fathers 65th birthday. I have been reading this site for awhile now and have learned a lot so far but had a few questions still. More than likely there will be three hunters plus one tag a long as a non hunter. I have...
