No problem on the Post. I hadn't seen the finished product until this morning when it was delivered. Don't know I would have said it was mine just glancing at your post. The male was NOT mine. Steve's son does some amazing work with cats though. Very happy with the end result.
Edward, what are you referring to here? I'm travelling SAA in May and taking my S&W 500 with me. As long as the necessary permits are waiting upon arrival, there is no issue with handguns being taken. I actually worked with Henry out of riflepermits.com for my pre-approval paperwork.
As far as...
Keep in mind that to get the best effect, you really should be looking at it eye level. Unless the base is high, down on all fours just does not give the effect of looking it in the eye!
My lioness is being worked on by Critter Creations in PA and will be similar to above poses. I'll have to see if Steve can give me a pic or two of the in process work. She'll be on a rock base, basically pouncing/leaping with front legs extending/reaching out. We were debating just one back leg...
Just my personal experience which seems different from yours, but I have big bore brass I've loaded atleast 10 times now and still have no issue with. Never crimped my 450/400 and presently not crimping my 500 either although the most any of that brass has been reloaded at this point is 3 times...

Matt,
See if Dave is willing to look at the dies by sending him 2 or 3 spent brass to work with. They are usually willing to work it out if the possibility exist of a problem on the manufacture side. Hate to see you go back to Hornady!
Although both would do the job if properly placed, my preference would not be a solid. They are relatively thin skinned and so you would want a fairly fast expanding soft to maximize tissue damage.
Please provide details as generic information/generalizations are a disservice to all. I'd like to get ahold of the landowners to hear their side firsthand.
Information on why he was banned from SCI as well so I can follow up.
Couldn't have said it better Shakari. Picking the right bullet and putting it in the right spot is the major factor here. A quick expanding soft in that .375 will do just fine unless you are looking for an excuse to purchase a new gun.
Matt,
I use the RCBS set for my 450/400 and really like it. I have ordered 2 different Hornady dies sets for various calibers in the past and absolutely hate them. Cheap pieces of junk. As CH4D dies were mentioned, just ordered a set for my 500 NE and love that as well. Price is 2.5Xs Hornady...
100 will fit in a USPS small flate rate box. $105 insured TYD if in continental U.S. Do have more if interested in larger quantities. A Square sold these for over $3.50 a piece.
Matt,
I use 77gr of IMR4831 and a CCI 250 primer for 400 gr DGS/DGX ( mimics factory loads). I use 78gr of IMR4831 and a CCI 250 primer for my 400 gr Dead Tough Softs.

Matt,
I have a 450/400 double rifle. Took a tuskless at 13 yards (frontal brain) and got roughly 40" penetration (took her low in trunk and bullet found at back of neck/head just under skin). Took impala and baboon at over 100 yards each. Plenty enough power even though it is slow. Recoil is...
Might I suggest you take the .375 you have and leave the Merkel for down the road. There is nothing wrong with Merkels and I own one in 500 NE, but I noticed you said this is your first hunt. Spend the money on extending the trip and taking more trophies. After you get that first trip out of the...
I hunted with Styger through another company (he was not the primary ph) and really liked him. Thinking about leopard and wanting feedback on those who might have hunted with him. I hear he does not do the traditional bait and wait but has great success using Bushmen trackers.
You'll like the smaller. I have both a Doc optic and a Burris fastfire III on my doubles. Both makers have advantages/disadvantages I like. Stay with a 4 or less for size as you will find that the larger dots really start obscuring targets as the distances increase.
I have to agree. I previously booked with Theo and can say that he has his hunter's best interest in mind and goes that extra step to take care of you and make sure everything is right and what you want. He offers incredible deals to boot!
Congrats on what sounds a great hunt! I hunted with Phil in Aug 2012. 8 days and I shot a buff, bushbuck, tuskless, eland, baboon, and 2 impala. Phil runs a great camp and knows the area quite well. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Bulk Dead Tough Softs in .409 (400gr) and .458 (465gr). Minimum order qty of 50.
Roughly (900) .409 400 grain softs. A-Square sold them for $3.11 each. I'll sell for $1.50 each.
Roughly (250) .458 465 gr softs with Win Mag cannelure. A-Square sold them for $3.69 each. I'll sell for $1.75...
Just signed contract today with Aaron Neilson to do a 10 day tuskless ele and cape buffalo hunt with Ivory Trail Safaris in Zimbabwe. This will be my first DG hunt. Bushbuck or eland might be added to the menu.
