There is one of Searcys rifles on gunbroker now with serial # 1 on it . Does anyone here know of this rifle and if it is built on a true double rifle action?
I will when I get him. I do have a nice 55 inch tips point out. Johnny saw a 60 incher recently. Told him to tie it to a waitabit tree. I'll come get him . I'll try and figure out how to post some of my pictures.
Yes it does look military so far I get along with the guys in the little room at the airport, wouldn't want to ruin that. Going back in October for three months mainly just to help on the ranch with the cows. Although the black Comanchies have to eat a few zebra and gemsbuck, a nice 60 inch kudu...
I have hunted Namibia quite a bit with bolt guns but yesterday bought a Springfield scout. Sure would make a nice saddle rifle.but is it legal to take one over for hunting. Probably need to ask my PH Johnny Sickerling
Yea it is a nice picture except it ain't a kudu. I is an American antelope with Kudu horns. Look at the ears, way too little and the nose vee is under the eyes not further down.
I know this is an old post but here is my take. I shipped about 500lbs. of trophies and stuff by air. $2000 Yankee dollars, the in DFW Coppersmith charged me $1500 Yankee dollars to clear it. They told me if one word was spelled wrong fish and feathers would burn me stuff. Later Customs told me...
Yes I was talking about the third curl. It was on Johnny Schickerling's out fit. Agarob horseback hunting. I hunted there in Aug. then went back in DEC and punched cows for a month. HE was A 60 INCHER on one side which can happen in the Khomas region.
Horn tips
What does it for me is when the tips point out. Saw one last Dec. while moving cows, his tips went out a foot. The left was broken off about six inches but he was a monster anyhow. Maybe I'll see him next week.

They were 7 1/2 a little tough now they are 4 1/2 and break like glass. Don't want them too light on a double or you might get a "DOUBLE" . Had a coupla' those and it will get your attention. Not to mention possibly hurt the gun.
My double I am fixin' to take to Namibia had some very stout triggers. I called Mr. Perodeau yesterday and he told me to bring it up and he would fix it. It's about 200 miles from me so I started early and got there at eight thirty. Within 5 minutes he had it apart and was filin' on the...
That's why the best caliber to use to kill anything over 100lbs. always starts with a .4 . The blood trail may be as long as ten feet. Usually just DRT.
Several people here. One bad shot, one wallered PH,one steady cameraman, one very brave son and last and most a very small coward. Noboby had a handgun. Dangit, where is it when you need it?
I will be going over May 1st with my brother and his wife to hunt with Johnny Schicherling My daughter and I went last year and killed 12 head. Think I'll move overthere.
Im taking my AHR .416 Rigby. Although I can hit my 200 yd. 12x18 steel plates in the middle with the double. The 416 IS MURDER out to 400. I have a good range and shoot alot when it's not windy. Today in Saint Jo ,Tx we had 55mph. gust with steady at 40mph. recon that would teach you about...
Well so far I have put 30 Barnes a half that many Hornaday DGX through my double . The left barrel shoots the Barnes in one hole , the right in about 1 1/2 group about 1 inch right of the left but both about 5 inches high at 65 yards. I file a little and go shoot six. Off sticks. All this is...
When we get to the airport in Windhoek and fill out the gun form I should put all three on my form even though my rifle will be in his case. They seem real helpfull in the airport gun room but don't want to confuse them. I'll talk to Schickerling { Johnny, my friend an PH} also.
We are going to Frankfurt then Windhoek not through SA. Does Namibia have same caliber restrictiones ? Meaning two 9.3's on my Namibian gun form . He will be leaving before I do so his gun form should have only his rifle on it unless I sell him the donation rifle and he has the letter of...
My brother and I are going to Namibia in May. I will be taking a 9.3x62 donation rifle and a .458 double. I want to also take a little 9.3x62 Mauser. My brother is only taking one rifle a .338 Win. Can he put the donation rifle or my litttle Mauser in his gun case as long as I have all three on...
In the larger bores at medium speeds I figure it is fine. The old gentelman that loads Johnny's ammo likes to push the bounds. No telling how fast those little rounds we going. I like Barnes bullets My AHR .416 AND Ruger #1, .416 both love the 350grn. bullet and I run them at 2650. Kills quite well.
I was the Nosler accubond ,the one with the tan plastic nose in a 300WSM. I was using my PH's rifle to get meat for Christmas.Went over in Dec. to help on the ranch while he was getting his shoulder opperated on. Leaving May 1st. to go again. Think I'll move over there.Saw a client shoot a...
338with a Barnes 225. Accubonds are worthless blowup on the hide bullets. Although I have killed several hd with them but never figgured out why they killed. Shot a zebra one time and all four legs went strait up.Little bit of heart and lung hit, no bullet found but in the words of the black...
Mac I finally got that Brovnick 458 regulated . Shoots one ragged group at 65 yd.Think I will take it in May for giraffe and waterbuck, just to ring it out. Johnny thinks we have a buff huntin 2012. Shoot till we get tired. Saeed kicked me off ARF for a place description that was not...
