    Bullet selection for reloading

I think it depends on the individual and what your used too. I bought a reloading kit that included a manual. Im a machinist by trade so all the math and measuring were second nature too me. I have not had any problem acheving good accuracy with the starting loads recomended in the manual. I...

In 2009 when we were taxing down JNBs runway i new that i didnt get the african experience my soul desired. I would have to return. I started looking for a hunt in a dangerous game area. Through Tim Herald and Magnum hunt club I settled on SSG safaris. The long awaited day finaly came and i...

    Newbie Question

Remember, Shooting off sticks is not like shooting of the bench or even seated off short sticks. I was quite frustrated at first because i couldnt shoot groups as tight as i wanted with my .223 much less the .375. After plenty of practice i am okay out to 200 yards with the .375. Probably...

    235 grain Speer for .375 H$H

I use the speer for practice because its cheap, accurate and always in stock. I have yet to shoot anything with it though. I have been warned that its a very soft bullet. I am sure it would work on deer and smaller hogs.

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

I have shot both calibers, the ole shoulder cant realy tell the difference. The animal wont know the difference either. I went with the H&H just because theres liable to be ammo in every camp in africa. Or atleast the next one over. Alot of airlines require your ammo and rifle to travel...

    Bullet runout ?

Thanks Phil, You dont need any equpiment to measure the runout. It is clearly vissible and substantial. A couple of them were so bad the bolt would not close without forcing it. I do lube the necks slightly, im not sure if its enough. I have never brushed out the inside. I will try that on...

    Bullet runout ?

I have reloaded several hundred .223 rounds with no issues at all. My .375 H&H is another story. With both speer hot core and 300 gr. partitions i am having maybe 1 out of five rounds that are pressing of center. When i called tech support they suggested it was the case necks not being a...

    Feathers or Vanes?

Yes feathers shoot better off my bow. They do not hold up well and are too fragile for me. I switched to vanes a long time ago for hunting. They also tolerate all weather conditions. You mentioned hot vs. cold My old bow did change a little from the plain ole hot september hunting to the...

    Hunting African animals by calling?

I saw a tv episode one time with the Mojo boys in africa. They killed several jackels and called in a lepoard, though it never presented a shot. The jackels responded just like coyotes do. Some hard chargers and some slipping down wind. If the place your going hasnt done it in a few years...

Bow only and need close shot

Out of 6 animals my longest shot was 23 yards. Shouldnt be a problem. If the water is too far slide the mineral rock or whatever they use closer too you. You have plenty of time before 2014 to extend your range too. I practice from 60 yards. It makes 30 yards seem like a pot shot.

    30-06 recoil vs 300win mag.

Everyone i know with a 300 mag says it kicks like a mule. As a matter of fact i would rather shoot my .375 H&H than my friends .300 mag. The .300 delivers a very sharp blow where the.375 is more of a big shove. Being small framed myself i would much rather shoot the 30-06. I have learned to...

Can you put locked ammunition case inside your suitcase to save on amount of luggage?

Who knows: TSA allows it to be in your gun case. Delta requires it be in a seperate piece of luggage. Doesnt have to be locked? It seems to be different depending on whos standing in front of you at the time. Probably the safest way is to have it in a lockable case in different bag.

Has anyone shot or gotten pictures of a 70inch kudu?

Yes your 70" is nothing but a pipe dream. Realisticly if you can bust 55" you have killed and awsome bull. If just have to have 60+ inches i would turn to the farms in the limpopo province of RSA. The PH i hunted with had killed a 60" with a client the year before and they had a hunter in...

Question about non-hunting wives on DG safaris

I have read alot of reports where basicly someone (Govt. game scout or asst. tracker) is but in charge of the observer. They stay back with them when it gets tight or backs them up if things go badly.
