Suggestions for best American-based company that hunts in southern Africa

Guys, Henk Fourie is dead by suicide. He killed himself a couple of weeks ago. I am an American and, as far as I know, am the only American that owns a safari company in Africa that still lives here in the US. I've been in the hunting business 21 years and while we are based in South Africa...

    Hunting Concession Wanted!

It is very interesting to see this post here at this forum. Outside of RSA you will be required to hunt with a licensed outfitter and PH from the hosting country. They will have a set rate and you will have to add on to this rate or take a commission from them and possibly PH pay. As a SA PH...

    Longbow Kudu & Waterbuck

The trick is not to overbow yourself. Too many guys start out with too much weight. Fifty pounds will drop anything you want to hunt with the exception of the big and dangerous. When you begin to shoot a trad bow you will also notice that you're spraying arrows all over the place, the result...

    Longbow Kudu & Waterbuck

Bill dropped all of his animals except one in sight. He watched them fall from the hide so trad equipment is more than adequate. It is imperative that you use a heavy arrow (momentum) and a big, COC broadhead. I recommend total arrow weight of 600 to 700 grains. His longbow was 52 pounds...

    Longbow Kudu & Waterbuck

I do alot of traditional bowhunting myself and I always like to see success from the trad guys. The client, Bill Collins, was a last minute booking and really had good success. He also shot a 26" Impala and his wife, using his longbow, took a Blesbok and Warthog. Impressive.

    Longbow Kudu & Waterbuck

Thought I'd post photos of two excellent trophies taken by one of my clients two weeks ago. The client was using a Hummingbird Longbow and bagged a beautiful 55" Kudu bull and a heavy horned 30" Waterbuck bull. Good shooting to say the least.

    Misconceptions in Hunting.

Yes, and the sporting manner in which sport hunting devolved was in only shooting birds on the wing not on the ground (inducing skill thus the sport aspect), not shooting animals as they are swimming, ensnared, or trapped in any manner, etc. The sport involved in sport hunting has more to do...

    Misconceptions in Hunting.

Hunting as sport evolved from the terms sport hunting. It has nothing to do with an athletic competition but it derived from one of the definitions of sport which is "physical activity engaged in for pleasure" or "a source of diversion." Rarely is the word used in that context today but that...

    Why certain species?

No, I don't know you because you are hiding behind an internet handle. State your name so that all may know who you are. Additionally, if you are not a life member of SCI then please don't question my contributions to this great organization. I have given thousands upon thousands of dollars to...

    Why certain species?

Well, when you've dealt with thousands of clients as I have you may have a different outlook. Many use record books to some how validate their manhood which is, IMO, ridiculous. Others quit hunting and simply begin collecting, needing this or that species to qualify for this or that level...

    Why certain species?

Sorry, but I never claimed to have ever killed a world record kudu. What you probably read was a post I made on another forum that I had killed a waterbuck that was larger then the world record. I don't personally believe in record books though I am an official measurer for SCI and a life...
